STOUT AGED IN BOURBON BARRELS WITH CACAO NIBS, VANILLA BEANS, CHILES AND CINNAMON ADDED. We’ve been thinking long and hard about one of our all-time favorites and how to put our personal lil twist on it. Or is this a big twist? Hmmm. We’ll have to think, and drink, on that one.

Mooch tasting at Matt's
Dark brown color. Some aroma of alcohol, chocolate, cinnamon, allspice. Moderately sweet, strong alcohol punch, chocolate, some cinnamon.
Quite good, necessarily unbalanced.

12 oz. bottle, sent from wchesser (thanks a lot, Will!), pours black with a small beige head. Aroma is very complex, with bourbon barrels, chilis, cinnamon and a little vanilla. Flavour is rather smoky, with bourbon barrels, chilis, and cinnamon. Lots of heat, but pleasantly so. Finishes lightly smoky and bourbony. Excellent.

Dark brown. The aroma is alcoholic, with a little bit of chocolate. Sweet, chocolate, with a light chile. Fairly rich, with sweet chocolate, and a little bit of spicy, chile burn in the finish.

On tap @ Strong Ale Fest 2016. Extremely dark brown beer with a thin khaki head. Not the greatest...kind of the typical Avery high boost mess. Has some nice qualities from the adjuncts, particularly the vanilla and cacao. Get sort of a dusty cinnamon thing going on. Decent amount of oak, lots of bourbon, and strong vanilla. Big time sweetness and certainly on the boozy side.

Lubiere (14133) - Ottawa, Ontario, CANADA - JUL 25, 2017
A deep dark stout with a thin light mocha head. In aroma, beautiful sweet chocolate malt with light chili and light vanilla extract, alcohol warmth, very nice and smooth. In mouth, a nice sweet fruity chocolate malt with light chili notes, light vanilla, licorice notes, very nice. Bottle from Pushkinwow.

Bottle from Capones. Dark brown with a faint mocha head that mostly fades away to a thin ring. Vanilla, sweet chocolate malts, some bourbon, bit of oak, cinnamon but all cut (for good or for bad) with dried green chilli seeds and some husk, then booze. Moderate+ carbonation and full body, semi sweet, chocolate, malty, bit dry with mild heat on the finish. Chillies don’t overwhelm and in some ways balance out what might have been too much cloying, interesting experiment for sure.

Bottle. Pours a pitch black beer with a very small beige head on top. Aroma has lots of roasted malts, cinnamon and molasses. Also a big oaky presence in there in the background of the aroma. Flavor is the perfect balance between all the different spices and stout characters. Everything is in there, well balanced and nothing too overpowering. Moutfheel is a bit thin and watery, soft carbonation, yet long in syrupy sweet roastt aftertaste. Nice stuff!
