Black pour from 12oz bottle at home. Smokey and peppery is upfront and heavy. Vanilla and cocoa notes at the end. Pretty strange but enjoyable. Bacterial (3074) - Twin Cities, Minnesota, USA - AUG 6, 2016
Brown pour, thin, with a slight tan head. Really nice nose with chocolate, vanilla, cinnamon and some spice. Taste is quite nice, a tiny bit of heat, lots of cinnamon and vanilla. Thin but super drinkable and really well balanced. DocLock (11189) - Lower Pottsgrove, Pennsylvania, USA - AUG 3, 2016
Bottle from Whole Foods PM. Pours hazy black with tan head. Nose was roasty dark malt, oaky bourbon, cacao, molasses, vanilla, pepper. The flavor had more hot pepper flavor, nice vanilla, oak, cacao, molasses, spice. Very well hidden alcohol. bhensonb (15976) - Woodland, California, USA - AUG 1, 2016
Bottle from Bine &n Vine. Pours dark brown with a transient, fizzy tan head. Aroma is cinnamon over dark treacle with a hint of chili. Near full bodied. Flavor is dark treacle, chocolate, bourbon, cinnamon and warming chili. The alcohol is well hidden. It is very warming - both alcohol and chili I suspect. Strong flavors, not dry, but pretty interesting with a good flavor profile.

Bottle courtesy cwsample. Pours black, opaque. Tan head. Aroma is very rich. Malt and molasses, bourbon, wood, vanilla, dark fruit. Super complex. Flavor is rich as well. Roasted grain, bourbon and dark chocolate. A distinct pepper heat can be felt on the finish. The alcohol level also provides some heat. Full bodied. Very nice. Would age well.

Black pour with a thin beige head and light lacing ....... Aroma of cocoa, bourbon, dry oak, def boozy, vanilla, light tobacco and cinnamon ..... Taste is of vanilla, cinnamon, cocoa, light chili heat, bourbon and dry oak .... Balanced flavors and the bourbons not too intense.... Def has mostly a cinnamon spice, vanilla, dry oak and dry chili heat in the finish .... Has a bit of abv that lingers .... Mouthfeel is oily .... Body is medium to full Mep3222 (1708) - East Greenbush, New York, USA - JUL 17, 2016
Roasted malt aroma with some slight spice from the chillies. Taste is a slight sweet roasted malt, very full flavored stout, with mild chillie spice, and a vanilla bourbon finish. Fantastic balance. The chili spice is perfect in this beer. Some beers it is too much and burns the throat. This adds some slight heat without overpowering the stout. Brilliant balance. Alcohol is very masked. Such a good imperial stout.

12oz. Black pour, minimal head. Brownie batter. Chocolate frosting. Touch of vanilla. Nice pepper flavor. Some heat especially on the back end. Slight bourbon. Body is disappointingly thin for a 13%. Decent beer, but I was expecting a bit more from an Avery BA stout. The adjuncts and barrel presence were pretty light compared to their prevoious offerings.
