3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Bottle. Pretty auburn with fizzy tan dissipating head and no lacing. Smells like an old fashioned with some sour cherries. Tastes like an old fashioned layered over a sour- both things going on at once in parallel. Both light and medium and a little warming, but kind of refreshing and lively, too.
Bottle from March 2010. I don’t even remember where I got this but it is pretty old and not great. Pours a golden dusty orange with faint white head. Aroma is oxidized cherry and chocolate. Taste is flat and again oxidized chocolate barrel with some sour cherries. Not at all that sour but there was only brett in this so I didn’t really expect much on that front. The ABV is typical of Avery "sours" from this time. Skip. Koelschtrinker (21815) - K?ln (Cologne), GERMANY - OCT 26, 2016
Spritziger, dunkel malzig-säuerlicher Antrunk. Spritzig, deutliche Holznoten, geringe Herbe, deutliche natürliche Kirschnoten. Vollmundig, die Säure bleibt spritzig, nie übertrieben. Zum Ende holziger, etwas trocken. Sehr harmonisch. 8/12/12/12/13/12 Errl (2577) - Plano, Texas, USA - JAN 17, 2016

Tasted on 11/16/13 from a capped 12oz bottle at our Avery Barrel-Aged tasting. Pours hazy copper with some thin off-white bubbles. The nose is very funky with some sour cherry and a touch of caramel malt. The flavor is a bit more sour cherry and a bit more malt than the nose with light caramel malt and a whole bunch of funk. The body is full with sticky tannins, light carbonation and a long sour cherry with some vanilla oak finish. BiiruBierBeer (1059) - Phoenix, Arizona, USA - JAN 3, 2015
Sour smell. Taste is almost like a geuze. Notes of brett and a slight bit of lactic sourness.

Bottle. It pours hazy deep amber with a small beige head. Loads of ripe cherry in this. Also wood, oak and vinous notes. The malt is very present with a good sweetness to balance the dry brett. The flavor has a great oaky feel with lots of cherries and almonds. The quite high abv is hardly felt. This is awesome!! HonusWagner (2232) - Florida, USA - DEC 2, 2014

Tart cherries, tannins, mild malty sweetness. Quite sour, as is par for the Avery wild ales I’ve tried.
the brett is there and obvious, but not so overpowering that the oaky complexity of the zin barrels can;t come through. and most of the tartness is more of the sour cherry variety. one of avery’s best and another awesome beer!! in the upper tier of sour ales." Bottle. Pours brown with off-white head. Aroma is rich figs, sour, vanilla. Tastes sour, great sourness, rich, very woody, vanilla. Absolutely amazing. Smurf2055 (1400) - Seattle, Washington, USA - DEC 20, 2013
Pours slightly hazy cherry mahogany, quick dissipating head.
Smell tart, bretty funk, vinegar and horse, bit of wood
Taste is fruity up front, bit of cranberry tart in the middle, sweet oaky finish. Wine quality is very light.
