Bourbon Barrel-Aged Peanut Stout

This creamy and colossal peanut stout is nuts. But, our resident archaeologist, historian, brewer, and professor...he’s really nuts. Mad peanut science.

A really great stout. Quick dissipating head. Aromas of dark fudge, vanilla, sherry, dried fruit, yeast. Maybe some slight nuttiness. Tastes like it smells. ABV is undetectable which is impressive considering how high it is. Very chocolate forward and chewy. Wish there was more of a peanut presence.

Bottle 6 months old. Dark black with no head and light oil skim. Nose is light peanut that faded pretty quickly to dark roast malts and sweet vanilla. Taste is very rich with oily mouthfeel. Flavors of light peanut butter, dark roast malts, vanilla.

Draft to taster in a flight at Cappy's. Pours dark brown to black in color with a small disappearing khaki colored head. The aroma and flavor have roasted malts, dark chocolate, some lesser milk chocolate, well integrated peanut character, bourbon, vanilla, good viscosity and mouthfeel, sweet with some roasted character and late bitterness, easy to drink at 15+%.

Bottle pours black with a brown head. Aroma and taste are peanut butter, chocolate and bourbon.

Black pour with very thin tan head. Aroma is lighter than taste. Aroma is peanut, then bourbon, then chocolate. Taste brings the bourbon forward. Very nice.

Bottle at The Market Italian Village. Black pour with a medium tan head that recedes steadily to an outer ring. Sparse small patches of lacing. Aroma of chocolate, bourbon and peanut butter. Full-bodied with flavors of roasted peanuts, chocolate malt and bourbon. The finish is peanut butter fudge and bourbon. Good beer overall.

The peanuts are there from the very beginning, but for the first time ever I really enjoy them. Avery has a way of making a pricy beer that's worth it.

12 oz bottle shared, purchased at the brewery. Black appearance with minimal head. Aroma of nuts, peanut butter, chocolate, dark malts, light vanilla, caramel/toffee and a hint of bourbon. Similar flavor, adding heavy sweetness and minimal bitterness. Full bodied with soft carbonation and a lingering nutty finish. Rich and really sweet, kind of hard to drink more than a few ounces.

Pours super dark brown with a tan head. The aroma has lots of barrel, chocolate, roast, light peanut and dark fruits. It has a rich smooth full body with light gentle carbonation. The taste is lush rich peanuts, smooth roasted malt, vanilla, chocolate and some bourbon. Pretty fantastic.
