Bourbon Barrel-Aged Peanut Stout

This creamy and colossal peanut stout is nuts. But, our resident archaeologist, historian, brewer, and professor...he’s really nuts. Mad peanut science.

Take some chocolate chip pancakes and smother them with butter and peanut butter. Top it all off with a generous pour of maple syrup. If you were one of those heathen children that enjoyed this kind of breakfast ritual, you probably grew up into the kind of adult who will like Nuttiest Professor because that's what this Stout reminded me of. Some chocolate, lots of peanut butter, and a huge amount of boozy, syrupy malt. If you go for that kind of hedonism, Nuttiest Professor will put a stupid grin on your stupid face. Just beware of that ABV. Jesus.

Taste: Sweet, intense, complex, roasted peanuts, dark malts, dark chocolate, oak barrels, boozy, vanilla smooth. Same with the nose. Black, opaque, no head but viscous on glass. Full not heavy body. Big warming tasty finish.

2018/01/01 - Pours jet black with a tan head the immediately vanishes and leaves no lacing. Surface has a shiny, oily residue. Aroma is peanut butter, fudge, chocolate, vanilla, bourbon and wood. Taste follows nose; sweet molasses, peanuts, chocolate, vanilla, wood and bourbon. Mouthfeel is medium and chewy with smooth carbonation and a sweet, boozy finish. Really nice. This would work well as a standard stout also. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Bottle. A- Peanut butter, vanilla, subtle alcohol. A- Black color, black liquid, minimal head. T- Booze, peanuts, vanilla. P- Full body, average texture, average carbonation, boozy finish. O- The first beer of the New Year and a big one at that. Not worth the $1/oz price tag but still a good beer. I almost think this would be twice as good if it wasn't barrel aged or if it was a lower abv. It's almost too much even though it's tasty in its current state. Had some glitter looking stuff on the top that I have no idea where it came from.

From a bottle with a fill date of June 2017. Pours black with a quickly receding tan head. Aromas of peanuts, bourbon and dark pit fruits. Flavor is sweet but the booze is well hidden.

rxeight (3344) - Illinois, USA - DEC 11, 2017
12 oz bottled 6/19/17. Dark brown, almost black, no head retention. Aroma is dark fudge, dark roast, familiar uncle Jacobs aroma. Taste is dark chocolate and oak, some peanut, but the roast and barrel really cover it up. Almost too smooth for 15%, but it hits you after a few sips.
