UPDATED: AUG 26, 2010 On draught at the tap room/brewery. The beer pours black with a medium thick rocky beige head that diminishes slowly. Top ring of lacing with strings underneath. Boozy, chocolatey aroma. Rich, smooth body with flavors of bourbon, dark chocolate, malt and roasted coffee. The finish is roasty and oaky with a bourbon-infused chocolate aftertaste. Good beer overall. bu11zeye (13215) - Frisco (Dallas), Texas, USA - FEB 1, 2011

UPDATED: OCT 10, 2013 black with a brown head. sweetned bourbon and maple syrup nose along with a small amount of chocolate malt - the bourbon masks the beer but it actually smells and tastes quite good. silky, delicate and oily on the palate, the sugar provide some heft and weight to the body that is missing in the other versions. decadent and chewy. should have bottled it.

draft at brouwers back in black. pours jet black with a loose ring of dark tan head and intermittent lace. mild bourbony nose. some sweet roasty malt balanced in. creamy medium thick body, some carb showing. roasty, ashy, charry mid palate with bourbony peach and vanilla leavening it in. sweet, powerful, pleasant impy. clingy sweet finish. 5000 (6862) - Hardened Liver, Washington, USA - OCT 17, 2010
Draught @ Brouwer’s Café:   Black, deep brown hues, fairly sticky lacing.   Soft Bourbon on the nose, sweet roasted malts, a little oaty.   Yes, that’s oats and not oaks.   Smooth, not heavy, well balanced, some more Bourbon notes on the backside.   Moderate to full body and mouthfeel.   This one isn’t a bruiser, yet more of a subtle example of a Bourbon aged stout.   Robust, yet not brash.   Flavorful, yet not ober the top.   Straight forward good example of the style.riversideAK (6265) - Shoreline, Washington, USA - MAY 14, 2010
Lots of bourbon barrel on the nose, vanilla and dark chocolate notes, nice essence of bourbon. Nice nose. Pours black with a brown creamy head. Bourbon, wood, vanilla, coffee, roast, dark chocokate, alcohol, barrel notes. Creamy smooth body. Not too hot, enjoyable. thirdeye11 (6162) - Dallas, Texas, USA - MAR 3, 2011
(Draught) jet black pour, minimal dark brown head. Nose of bourbon, vanilla bean, raisins, brown sugar, rum, fudgey, awesome, complex and very sweet. Taste is mildly vinous, raisins, maple, fudge, alcohol and vanilla, bourbon, toasty/roasty, quad-like in many respects, and brown sugar. A bit too alcoholic, soft carbonation, medium slick body with a huge duration. BrewDad (5667) - Olympia, Washington, USA - JUN 3, 2010
