Bottle, 2017 vintage. Rich roasted malt aroma with notes of coffee, chocolate, bourbon, vanilla and oak. Pours deep brown with a thin mocha brown head that has excellent retention and very good lacing. Starts with rich roasted malt, coffee and dark chocolate flavors as well as a full body and silky smooth mouthfeel. Finishes smooth and a bit dry with excellent bourbon, vanilla and oak flavors. This is an excellent coffee stout with the coffee being subtle enough not to overpower the other flavors and balance well. This is not always the case. Wonderful! Aroma: coffee beans, vanilla and hint of bourbon.
Appearance: black color, small head.
Taste: semi-sweet, flavour of nutts, coffee beans and bourbon,
Palate: close to full body, bit boozy, low to medium carbonation.
Overall: Tasty one, wish it wasn't so boozy.

pours a mean very very dark brown, settles pitch black with a smooth brown head.
aroma of bourbon, coconut, licorice, roasted malts.
flavor is quite sweet, coconut, bourbon, roasted malts, honey, licorice.hints of wood especially in the aftertaste. imho a bit too sweet to be really good, although the woody bitterness in the otherwise sugary sweet aftertaste nearly saves the day. pleasant brew.
alc. is well hidden, i had no idea until i accidentially noticed. some of the wood bitterness i tasted could be wood and alc. bitterness. given the new facts i now think this reminds me of barrelled mikkeller black beers.
UPDATED: NOV 10, 2017 Not much more that can be said about this superstar beer from the Avery. Outstanding product that is worth every single penny. You can taste the craftsmanship. MrTipple (6570) - London, Greater London, ENGLAND - OCT 29, 2017

12 ounce bottle into snifter, bottled on 11/14/2016. Pours dense opaque dark brown/black color with a 1-2 finger dense and rocky khaki head with amazing retention, that reduces to a nice cap that lasts. Nice spotty soapy lacing clings around the glass, with a fair amount of streaming carbonation retaining the cap. Fantastic appearance. Aromas of huge nutty dark roasted coffee, milk/dark chocolate, cocoa, caramel, brown sugar, toffee, marshmallow, fudge, vanilla, bourbon, coconut, toasted oak, and dark bread; with lighter notes of smoke, char, molasses, raisin, cherry, and roast/toast/oak earthiness. Very slight booze in the aromas as it warms. Incredible aromas with fantastic complexity and balance of coffee, dark/roast/bready malts, and bourbon barrel notes; with big strength. Taste of huge nutty dark roasted coffee, milk/dark chocolate, cocoa, caramel, brown sugar, toffee, marshmallow, fudge, vanilla, bourbon, coconut, toasted oak, and dark bread; with lighter notes of smoke, char, molasses, raisin, cherry, and roast/toast/oak earthiness. Light roast/char bitterness and bourbon/oak spiciness on the finish. Lingering notes of nutty dark roasted coffee, milk/dark chocolate, cocoa, caramel, brown sugar, toffee, marshmallow, fudge, vanilla, bourbon, coconut, toasted oak, dark bread, smoke, char, molasses, light dark fruit, and roast/toast/oak earthiness on the finish for a while. Insane complexity, robustness, and balance of coffee, dark/roast/bready malts, and bourbon barrel flavors; with an amazing roasted bitter/sweet and bourbon/oak spiciness balance; with zero cloying, acrid, or astringent flavors after the finish. Lightly increasing dryness from roast/char bitterness and bourbon/oak spiciness. Medium carbonation and very full body; with a very smooth, creamy, silky, velvety, and rich mouthfeel that is fantastic. Some chalky roast and oak tannins. Alcohol is very well hidden; a light-moderate increasing warmth of 16%, with very mild booziness lingering after the finish. Overall this is an insane barrel aged imperial coffee stout! All around amazing complexity, robustness, and balance of coffee, dark/roast/bready malts, and bourbon barrel flavors; very smooth and dangerously easy to sip on for the enormous ABV. The taste really blew me away on the first sip. Perfectly balanced with intense fruity/nutty coffee complexity and very rich malts. Perfect barrel integration without much booze. A world class and mind blowing offering. alteregoo (1779) - Kalisz, POLAND - OCT 14, 2017
Piana obfita, drobna, średnio trwała. Barwa czarna, nieprzejrzysta. W aromacie intensywna kawa na tle przyjemnej czekolady, waniliny i bourbonu. Super. W smaku słodkie, tu dominują praliny, trufle, świeżo palona kawa, wanilia i karmel. Średnia, palona goryczka, lekko pikantny (szczypta chilli?) i tytoniowy posmak.
