Pour on tap at the brewery, dark brownish pour with thin off white head, aroma brought big boozy notes, some slight pine, touch of smoke, anise, hints of oak, slight grain, caramel, and toffee, more booze and tequila in there. A very dark brownish amber pour, a very thick dark cream head. The aroma is very much tequila, given the barrel age. Very smoky smell, too. The smoke carries through to the taste; very strong and rich. The tequila is slight in the background, giving it an exotic appeal. Overall this is a very good beer, first smoked beer I have had and I am happy. Brouwerij (959) - Boulder, Colorado, USA - OCT 10, 2013
Tap at Avery. Pours a cloudy brown with fine tan head. Aroma is smoky, campfire, beechwood, bacon. Flavor is smoky, wood, sweet with a mild tequila finish. The flavors are strong and not overly complex, somehow the smokiness and hint of tequila actually works quite well. Soft carbonation, medium body, and smooth texture. An interesting, smoky doppelbock. jmgreenuk (9544) - Kuala Lumpur, MALAYSIA - OCT 9, 2013

Draft sampled at the brewpub. Pours hazy brown with a small beige head. Aroma of smoke, burnt malts, tequilla, ripe dark fruit, alcohol and caramel. Flavour is moderate sweet and bitter, with the tequilla hanging around a little unpleasantly in the finish. Medium bodied with soft carbonation. On draft at the Avery tap house. Pours a clear cola brown with an off white head. Caramel nose. Smoky flavor with some light toffee and grassy hops. Bitter finish. PapaSkeetSkeet (1010) - Providence, Rhode Island, USA - AUG 13, 2013
Super dark amber, glinting under lights. Chestnut, but the glints are always present due to the beer’s brightness. Thin caramel head. Aroma is big smoked chipotle peppers, bbq potato chip, light tequila, cedar. Medium-thick body, light syrupy, creamy moderate carbonation. Flavor is huge bbq chip, banana, light smoked chipotle, sweet honey, bitter earthy bark and grass. Oaky tequila. The tequila becomes becomes bigger as I drink. Nice, but not sure how well tequila complements this beer. It can be a bit overbearing, and although it won’t detract points in this case, I can’t help but wonder if it may have been better with bourbon or scotch barrels... Still, I commend such a unique effort. hackobock (4045) - Stockholm, SWEDEN - JUL 20, 2013
