On tap at GABF. Pours jet black. Huge aroma of expresso and malt. Very smooth for over 15% with great hiding of the booziness. Very drinkable for it’s huge body. Smooth and really huge hints of coffee. Great stuff and really over the top. brokensail (16689) - Dublin, California, USA - OCT 18, 2013
On tap @ GABF. One of the beers I most wanted to try. Black pour from with very little, if any, head. Nose is pure coffee. Coffee liqueur, espresso, and rich dark chocolate. Roasted malt, slight alcohol, and sweet vanilla and caramel. Coffee dominates the palate. Sweet vanilla, caramel, and tons of coffee. Plenty of roast, dark chocolate, and a touch of booze. Sample at GABF 2013. Pours near black with a small beige head. Aroma of massive coffee, roast, molasses, toffee, dark chocolate and light soy. Flavour is heavy sweet and bitter. Thick syrupy mouthfeel. Full bodied with soft carbonation. MrHangover (4693) - Den Haag, NETHERLANDS - OCT 10, 2013
Sample @ GABF 13. Pours a pitch black brew with a medium sized, creamy beige head on top. Aroma is massive coffee, oaks and peppers. Flavour is sweet, licorice and peppery. Some alcoholic burning sensation in the back of the flavor. Sweetness is a bit overwhelming sometimes, but it’s still a very decent brew. Azand222 (171) - Westminster, Colorado, USA - OCT 10, 2013
Special tapping at Avery's for GABF 2013. After drinking a pint of out of mind, I find this ridiculously strong. Not in a bad way at all. This beer is quit enjoyable.
Very dark brown pour (zero transparency), with a thick dark tan head. The flair is quite intense, with a strong bitterness from the coffee. At 16% alc, this is not a session beer; but considering the strong palate it's quite drinkable. Overall this beer is a fantastic and unique imperial stout. dfinney23 (3424) - Houston, Texas, USA - OCT 8, 2013
Yummy stuff, whatever they’re calling it this year. Lots of coffee aroma and flavor with chocolate, malt and smoky accents. Thank you sir, may I have another? phaleslu (10890) - Cincinnati, Ohio, USA - AUG 29, 2013
Draft at the brewery. Pours an opaque brown - near black - with a finger of dark tan head. Looks good. Aroma of coffee, molasses, chocolate, dates, and a lot of dry, toasty, and roasty malts. The flavor is the same, but with more dark chocolate and a more obvious Belgian character. Full-bodied, with moderate carbonation and a rich, roasty mouthfeel. So rich. Some bitterness. For one of the highest-rated coffee stouts ever, this was a little disappointing. I liked it but had higher expectations.
