This beautiful, deep russet brew has the sweet and somewhat nutty character of Adam Avery's late (1992-2002) Chocolate Lab, for which it is named. Crystal and chocolate malts give this beer a brown sugar maltiness with hints of vanilla and nuts, while subtle hopping gives it an overall drinkability that's second to none, just like Ellie!

Deep dark brown appearance with mininal head but great lacing. This brew really surprised me. It was handed to me in a glass, and I was firmly convinced it was a rather low body stout. I was wrong, it was actually a brown ale. In true Avery fashion, they took a normal brown ale and went big. This was all around solid.

Dark brown opaque pour with creamy beige foam that lasts. A lot of hops in the nose, but the sweet, roasted malts come out after a few minutes. Medium body and slightly slick. Lots of sweet cocoa and vanilla malt in the taste and some dry earthiness. The hops come in toward the end and leave a bitter finish. A good combination.

0,355l can from Beergium. Dark brown beer with medium head. Aroma has some chocolate and roasted coffee, but is quite light overall. Taste is more strong with dark malts, roasted coffee and chocolate. Medium body.

33 cl can from systembolaget. Pours brown with little head. Sweet roasted aroma with coffee and burnt sugar. Nutty after taste with sweet chocolate bitterness.

It pours dark brown with a brown head that has moderate head retention. It is fairly clear. It has a chocolate and caramel aroma. The are background aromas of nuts, vanilla, and very light hops. The caramel is the most prominent flavor with the chocolate very noticeable. There are low levels of vanilla and nuts with a light spiciness. It has a moderate body with a moderately bitter finish. Overall, the balance is towards the malts with the hops being noticeable and providing good balance.

Dark malt and coffee in flavor and taste. Good bitterness that fills the upper part of the mouth to a weak moment. Okay beer. Follow me @ Kung av öl @ Facebook for more pictures and ratings.

From tap. Clear dark reddish brown, a finger of beige head. Generous aromatics of chocolate, almonds, roasted malt. Medium bodied, flavors of dark chocolate, nuts, sweet caramel notes. Pleasant nutty finish. Overall this smells great and and is nicely balanced. Almost a light porter in style.

Not bad but has a little after taste that I wasn't fond of. Over all, it's a good brew. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Taste is kind of sweet with brown sugar and roasted almonds. Pretty ok brownie without impressing too much.

Flaske. Som en Brown ale skal være. Nøddebrun med et fint skumhoved. Duft af malt, let chokolade. Det er smagen der er i højsædet. Sødlig nødder med en lækker humleantast der gør øllen frisk og lækker. God mundfylde.
