3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
UPDATED: AUG 29, 2011 Bottle. The pour was a medium brown in color with a small (1 finger or less) foamy light brown head that was mostly diminishing and left behind very light lacing.
The aroma was of roasted malts, a piney hop and a nice doughy yeast scent. It also had notes of coffee, vanilla and a bit of nuttiness.
It tasted bitter-sweet at first with a hint of roasted coffee and finished slightly malty with notes of vanilla and a nice nuttiness at the end. The flavor stayed with you for a enjoyable duration.
Mouthfeel was creamy yet oily in texture and medium in body and had a moderate carbonation.
Overall a nice bold tasting brown ale, typical of the style. Smooth, creamy and easy to drink.

I can't believe I've never rated this before. Tried for the first time in 2009 and had it numerous times since. Still one of my favorites. Light brown, some caramel and chocolate. Nice medium roastiness and a solid hop bite to finish. Finn (7836) - Tromsø, NORWAY - SEP 3, 2017

Pours brown from the can with a sand colored head. Aroma is lightly nutty, roasted cereal, sour yogurt. Taste is sweet/sour. The sour takes the upper hand at the finish. Body is somewhat thin, moderate carbonation. Not the best brown ale. PanMarek (461) - Pennsylvania, USA - JUL 24, 2017
Dark brown opaque pour with creamy beige foam that lasts. A lot of hops in the nose, but the sweet, roasted malts come out after a few minutes. Medium body and slightly slick. Lots of sweet cocoa and vanilla malt in the taste and some dry earthiness. The hops come in toward the end and leave a bitter finish. A good combination. mice (994) - FINLAND - JUL 6, 2017

33 cl can from systembolaget. Pours brown with little head. Sweet roasted aroma with coffee and burnt sugar. Nutty after taste with sweet chocolate bitterness. hman43 (1722) - Pinehurst, North Carolina, USA - JUN 22, 2017
It pours dark brown with a brown head that has moderate head retention. It is fairly clear. It has a chocolate and caramel aroma. The are background aromas of nuts, vanilla, and very light hops. The caramel is the most prominent flavor with the chocolate very noticeable. There are low levels of vanilla and nuts with a light spiciness. It has a moderate body with a moderately bitter finish. Overall, the balance is towards the malts with the hops being noticeable and providing good balance.
