COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
This beautiful, deep russet brew has the sweet and somewhat nutty character of Adam Avery's late (1992-2002) Chocolate Lab, for which it is named. Crystal and chocolate malts give this beer a brown sugar maltiness with hints of vanilla and nuts, while subtle hopping gives it an overall drinkability that's second to none, just like Ellie!

UPDATED: AUG 29, 2011 Bottle. The pour was a medium brown in color with a small (1 finger or less) foamy light brown head that was mostly diminishing and left behind very light lacing. The aroma was of roasted malts, a piney hop and a nice doughy yeast scent. It also had notes of coffee, vanilla and a bit of nuttiness. It tasted bitter-sweet at first with a hint of roasted coffee and finished slightly malty with notes of vanilla and a nice nuttiness at the end. The flavor stayed with you for a enjoyable duration. Mouthfeel was creamy yet oily in texture and medium in body and had a moderate carbonation. Overall a nice bold tasting brown ale, typical of the style. Smooth, creamy and easy to drink.

Pours dark, almost opaque, cola brown. Slightly sweet, brown bread aroma. Similar taste, with a very faint coffee finish, Palate is medium-light with a slightly creamy texture. Overall, its OK but doesnt really get your attention... in fairness, I a suspect this can was a little off. Sorry Ellie.

Like it used to be in the good old days. A dark, heavy aroma. Looks like a brown Ale should. A mild taste of malts, bread, sugar, with low carbonation. Very nice with simple home cooking.

Originally rated on 1/31/09. A decent brown ale, but not great. Everything was average because nothing stood out, not much aroma, or flavor to speak of. Appearance was o.k. because there were a few floaters to go with the deep brown body. Overall it was drinkable, an o.k. beer.
