On tap at Avery (GABF 2012 weekend). Pours with a hazy, deep maroon body with a tan to purple head. Aromas are fruity and funky with strong grapes, floral, alcohol, vinous. Flavors are of wine, fruity and tannic grapes, black currant, leather and white pepper. Warming, medium acidity. I really like Avery’s sour grape beers. craftbeerdesign (2254) - Fort Collins, Colorado, USA - NOV 6, 2012

Has some big grape and sour funk on the nose with a little barrel character. Pours a murky reddish brown color with no head. Taste has a big grape presence and has some nice wine attributes, has a bubbly mouth feel with a dry finish.

Pour on tap at Avery Sourfest 2012, dark reddish almost brown pour with thin off white head, aroma brought notes of lots of red grape, tart fruits, hints of oak, lemon, tart berry, hints of dusty and earthy funk, more grape as well in the end of the aroma. Taste is a nice mix of red berry with red grape, some caramel and toffee go into a lactic lemon, some funky basement, finishing fairly tart and dry with a wine-like finish. bu11zeye (13029) - Frisco (Dallas), Texas, USA - JUL 3, 2012

draft. dark purple body with browned-purple thin head. lactic acid and black currant / syrah wine nose. similar flavor with dirty oak tannin, notes of soil and dark fruit, but thankfully not boozy at 11%. round, full body suits the carbonation and acid well, and though it’s a little chalky and pasty with a mixture of lactic acid flavor and mashed currant / blackberry / black cherry / grape, it seems to work well enough. long skin and oak tannin late, with lingering flavors of grape juice-like with warming alcohol.
