Tap at 3rd Annual Boulder SourFest (06-02-2012). Poured a hazy, amber with a red tint and a small off-white head. Smell is muscat, red wine, oak, black currant, and light alcohol. Taste is sour grapes, cherries, oak, light funk, tannin, and a hint of vanilla. Medium body with high carbonation. Delicious sour. ephemeral8 (69) - denver, Colorado, USA - JUN 2, 2012
Nose: lots of Cab characteristics--black currant, mint. Mild caramelly oak.
Mouth: Follows through on the nose, very Cab like. Reminds me of some of the dry sparkling red wines I’ve had, just a little more watery and acidic. Pretty tasty, and fairly well balanced. Usually I find Avery a little heavy handed, and this was quite nice.
