Avery never disappoints, really like this brewery and glad the came back to AZ for distribution...keep on truckin.
Bottle. Dark orange color, white head. Aroma has caramel malty notes, some hops, some honey notes. Nice balanced taste, some malty notes, hops. Actually pretty nice.
Men helt ok iaf. chinchill (5451) - South Carolina, USA - JAN 7, 2018
Refrigerated 2 oz can with a canning date of March 2017.
Pours with a lightly hazed, reddish copper body and a decent white head. Moderate lacing.
Herbal and fruity hop notes dominate the aroma. The flavor follows, but with substantial caramel malt and low bitterness given the aroma. Moderate bitterness for style. Lasting fruity hop flavor.
Medium+ body and lively carbonation.
Overall: near juicy; easy drinking for style. zoucrew102 (2312) - - DEC 10, 2017
Can. Grapefruit citrus hop aroma with notes of caramel malt, floral hops and some dark fruit pours copper colored with a large tan was that has excellent retention and good lacing. Starts with grapefruit and floral hop flavors. Finishes very dry with caramel malt and dark fruit sweetness as well as the slightest hint of booze. Really nice. 355ml can kindly shared by Finn at Agenturet Øl og Vinbar. Crocheted lacing from a patchy off-white head. Hazy orange coloured body with a reddish tint. Inviting smell of apricot and juicy malts. Well blended taste of red orange, apricot and earthy malts with caramel sweetness beneath. Bittersweet long tail. Solid stuff. Nice. (Tromsø 28.10.2017). Poured from the bottle a nice medium gold with a decent head that faded quickly into a fine layer with some lacing.
The smell is of sweet carmel but some hoppiness was also present.
The taste is a good mix of malt and hops with the malt being big and bold(lots of caramel) up front and the hops takes over in the middle and dominates the finish to give it a bitterness that I liked. The alcohol is pretty well hidden but at +9%, I don't get that warming feeling that I'm used to in this style.
Overall, it's not the smoothest barleywine style ale I've tried but it's a good one that I'd buy again. MrTipple (7282) - London, Greater London, ENGLAND - OCT 8, 2017
Intense tropical fruits, overripe mango, papaya. Hazy, dark brown, small, creamy, beige head. Light bitter. More dank hops, overripe tropical fruits, mango, passion fruit, papaya, mango peel, soft carbonation, full bodied. Very nice. Keg at the brewery, Boulder. Bottle @ home. Slightly unclear dark orange to reddish color, full sized thick dense creamy white to off-white head that lasts for a long time and leaves fair lacing. Aroma is malts, hops, resin and pine. Taste malts, hops, lightly resin, firm pine, piney hops, lightly sticky hops. Malt base, firm pine bitter, bitter, medium body, decent to medium carbonation. Lovely beer, but I'm curious as to why this is a barley wine. I'd call this an Imperial IPA with a firm malt base. Nonetheless, whatever it is, it's a really nice beer! 9-5-9-4-18. Wow! Pours a deep murky copper colour, with a creamy off white head, it has an earthy floral aroma, along with dark fruits, roasted malts and caramel, flavours match starts with sweet caramel, also herbs and spice, rounding out with a smooth bitterness, slick mouthfeel, medium body, soft carbonation, extreamly warming, again, Wow!
