Too hoppy. Not balanced. Pricey. Cool label, too big of bottle for 9.2%. Find some friends and share one, then drink a Young’s Old Nick to see what a BW should really taste like.
Beautiful, flavorful, & smooth! Pours orange w/ a fluffy white head & excellent lacing. The aroma is a lovely balance between malt & hop. This is true for the taste as well. The dry earthy hops are presence throughout but the malt compliments them perfectly making this beer quite drinkable. It has a caramel bite with only a medium body making it go down easy. Terrific! balloonbuffoon (314) - - JUN 19, 2017
12floz can, COD: 03.28.2017, paid about $12 for a four-pack, poured and consumed from a pint glass. A good looking beer; amber in color, body has clarity, and there is nice tan head leaving specks behind. The aroma is what goes into it, malts and hops combine to produce a carnival of caramel-apple and cotton candy aromas sprinkled with pine needle dust. Robustly flavored and tense full-bodied texture, which tastes like burnt caramel and pine. Emeister84 (2505) - Charlottesville, Virginia, USA - MAY 23, 2017

Pours slightly hazy copper with a off-white head. Aroma has notes of malt, caramel, alcohol, dried fruits, orange and citrus. Taste is medium sweet and heavy bitter with a long warm, malty, caramel, bitter, orange and citrus finish. Body is full, texture is oily, carbonation is soft.
22 oz bottle as "Barley wine style ale" shared by ebone1988. 2016 vintage. The pour is a dirty, muddy, orangey ruby color with a thick bubbly cream colored head and a pretty strong soapy lace. The aroma is just not good. There is a bitter hoppiness to it and a horribly balanced sweet malt that turns into an alcoholic mess. The flavor is awful. There is a sweet potato heaviness and a metallic bit. The back end is like a metallic pepper garbage with a horrific aftertaste. The mouth feel is thin and watery with a bright carbonation and a dreadful metallic pepper aftertaste. This is garbage. ebone1988 (1918) - Dearborn, Michigan, USA - MAY 7, 2017
America. Rating #1776. Bottle shared with koleminer20. For the book. Aroma is grapefruit, malty, slight booze, pine, bitter, interesting. Appearance is amber, light tan head, clear. Taste is caramel malt, very hoppy, pine, citrus, tropical fruit, booze, bitter, harsh. Mouthfeel is medium body, light carbonation, harsh bitter caramel and booze aftertaste. Overall, it’s really bitter but I’ve had worse. jflopsu (1614) - New Jersey, USA - MAY 3, 2017
Pours a clear dark ruby red with tan head. A strong caramel malt and fruity aroma. A strong malty and hoppy taste with caramel, fruits, citrus and pine. A lingering bitter hop and sweet malt aftertaste. mike_77 (6657) - Breda, NETHERLANDS - APR 17, 2017
Copper colour with lasting head. Aroma has lots of sweet malts, quite syrupy. Flavour is bittersweet with caramel and floral hop. Jerm719 (193) - Colorado Springs, Colorado, USA - MAR 29, 2017
Barley wine style renamed imperial red IPA .. Sweet caramel malts dominate. Sticky tropical hops balance this beast. Syrupy, hoppy finish lingers.
