(Draught) Pours a deep amber-brown body with a small beige head. Aroma of wood, caramel, toffee, roasted malt, raisins, plum, and toasted coconut. Flavor of maple syrup, passion fruit, wood, toffee, raisins, and caramel malt. Excellent! BuckeyeBoy (7669) - Boise, Idaho, USA - OCT 4, 2009
Tap at Avery Brewing Tap room Pours out a rich amber/brown topped with a small head. Aroma was over the top tons of sweetness syrup, caramel, pit fruit and some of the 15%. Taste was all of the above lots of sweetness, thick rich malts, pit fruit. After I had this I had to drink 4 cups of water to just clean out my mouth. Man this stuff was thick. I loved it. Pretty drinkable for 15% I would say. KAggie97 (3529) - Ugly, Hot, and Humid Spring, Texas, USA - OCT 1, 2009

Pours a deep, thick, viscous amber with a rasin syrup, maple syrup, prune malt, and field fire and smoke nose. Flavor is full of fruity maple, melted sugar, and malt candy with earthy nuts in the finish. Feels like motor oil on the tongue. I’m hot for Sammy; lots of stuff going on with this guy.
Draught at Avery, GABF week 2009. Pours clear dark brown with a small, frothy light brown head, mostly diminishing with spare lacing. Aroma is heavy malt (cookie, caramel, toffee), heavy hop (flowers, perfume), heavy yeast (leather, earth, leaves) with notes of raisin, passion fruit, plum, prune, date, cherry, wood, toffee, and maple syrup. Full bodied, alcoholic texture, average carbonation, and a bitter finish. Long duration, heavy sweetness, moderate acidity and bitterness.
