Avery Sour Ale Fest. Well, good job Avery making a badass beer for a badass event. Plenty of fruity tartness going on, with some added funky leather. Really dug it. 3fourths (9367) - Boulder, Colorado, USA - FEB 28, 2010
cloudy reddish brown body, small off-white head. acetic, heavily oaked and lightly chewy with lactic/cheesy/fatty notes (minor). smooth texture, medium body, somewhat surprising fullness compared to things like sui generis, but like vogelbekdieren and voltron, perhaps if avery avoids filtering for their bottles you can actually find the malt structure preserved. light notes of mint toothpaste and oaked pineapple (hops?). creamy finish. moderate acidity. overall tasty, if too oak-forward. potbeerjob (1343) - Denver, Colorado, USA - FEB 28, 2010
Draught at Sour Fest. Murky dark brown with thin head. Aroma of caramel, brett funk, basement mildew. Taste is initially caramel/molasses sweet followed by short lasting sourness. Medium carbonation and body, a lot of malt depth for a sour. Very good. Ratman197 (15612) - Arvada, Colorado, USA - FEB 28, 2010
On tap at Avery Sour Fest poured a cloudy brown with a small lingering tan head. Aromas of sour cherry, horseblanket and barnyard. Palate was light bodied and crisp with a tart finish. Flavors of sour cherry, horseblanket and light barnyard funk with a crisp lingering tart funky finish.
