On tap @ Avery. Brownish orange appearance with an off white head. Rye, pale/caramel malty lager bock nose. Creamy, some fruity notes, rye, caramel malty bock flavor that’s quite hopped for the flavor. Quite smooth and well carbonated. Decent. arminjewell (9584) - East Lansing, Michigan, USA - JAN 15, 2012
Light brownish pour with thin off white head on tap at the brewery, aroma brought notes of big rye spice, some earth, nuts, hints of caramel, earthy and grassy hops make their way in as well. Taste is fairly nice, some nice caramel and toffee notes with a hint of nutty and earth go into spice, some grassy hops round it out. onceblind (9418) - Denver, Colorado, USA - AUG 5, 2011
Clear, light copper hued, like a new penny. Aroma of rye toast and biscuit. I tasted rye, wheat bread, a little sweetness, maybe toffee. Unsure. Somewhat 1 dimentional. Sorta tasted like liquid pretzel with no salt. There is some slight herbal spice, like clove or something. But not clove. Can’t put my finger on it. dnstone (3385) - Las Vegas, Nevada, USA - SEP 10, 2011
Pours a copper in color with white head. Malty but not too heavy. Not great notes on this one, sorry.

Draft at the tasting room.
Pours a clear, dark golden copper color with pale tangerine hues and a two finger frothy white head that has pretty good retention, slowly fading into a lasting cap. Sporadic rings and streaks of lacing. Visible carbonation bubbling up.
Slightly spicy aroma with faint floral hops and sweet malt. Hints of toffee, caramel, biscuit and light fruit. Apricot and hazelnut with brown sugar and cinnamon.
Medium bodied with a nice balance of zesty spice, earthy hops and sweet malt notes. Hints of pepper, brown sugar and cinnamon up front followed by the caramel malt, rye, biscuit, toffee and hazelnut notes. Sweet fruit notes toward the finish, mostly apricot and tangerine. Dry finish. Spice is a bit heavy for my liking.

On tap at Avery. Dark amber pour with a sticky head. Malt biscuit nose with plenty of rye. Flavor is even better and is smooth as hell. Cool bitterness in the finish. Pretty excellent. wchesser (2071) - Denver, Colorado, USA - JAN 8, 2012
Light brown with good carbonation. Nose is not very strong, but some earthy malt. Taste is mild with rye not really showing very strong directly, comes across more in an earthy, rustic element very reminiscent of a dry apple cider. Tasty. Would be great with a hot ham and cheese. crajun (1226) - , Texas, USA - JUL 23, 2011
on tap at the brewery - ENJOYED this one; amber pour, this thing is smoov with a v! Very smooth; good palate with a slight hop at the end.. notes were sketchy on the details - just drink it! Nikiel (879) - Portland, Oregon, USA - MAY 22, 2011
On tap at Avery. Pours a deep gold/brown. Smells lightly of caramel. Feels way thicker than expected and tastes slightly roasty with rye and a bit too much alcohol.
