COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
A traditional black porter, with a surprise twist - it's dry-hopped!! We've expanded the porter category a bit, adding a delightful, dry hop aroma to blend with the sweet caramel and chocolate characteristics of a Robust Porter.

Bottle. Sweet, fruity, roasted aroma. Almost totally black colour. Small light brown head. Roasted flavour, fruity and dusty. Not that powerful, but with a distinct bitterness in the aftertaste.

Nutty, toasty aroma with maybe a hint of chocolate. Virtually no head, minimal lacing, but a reddish brown color that is magnificent. Starts with a warm cocoa flavor, passing to some sweetness, but enough hop shows up at the end to balance the whole. This may be the first ale (oops, porter) that I would credit with a nutty characteristic. The mouth feel is stout, the flavor is porter. Really a tour de force.

On tap at Avery poured a clear dark brown with a large lasting tan head. Aromas of roastiness, cocoa, carmel, pine resin and light grapefruit. Palate was medium bodied and smooth. Flavors of cocoa, roastiness, pine, light carmel and a hint of grapefruit with a smooth lingering moderatly bitter piney finish.

Bottle as shown. Pours a dark brown with a medium creamy light tan head. The aroma is very hoppy with caramel and chocolate. Good sticky lacing on the glass. The taste is a roasted malt with cinammon and a spicy dry finish. A good porter from Avery.
