COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Our winter ale has a gorgeous mahogany hue, a hint of hazelnuts, and a finish reminiscent of mocha and toffee. No spices, just a perfect blend of five specialty malts. Cellarable for 3+ years.

A little hoppy, but malts balance out well. Poured well and had a light aroma that was pleasing. Caramel is definitely present; Not bad for an aftertaste; a little alcohol taste after half a botlle. Will drink again!

12 oz. bottle from Gregis. Pour is ruby brown with a nice off white head. Aroma of sweet dried fruit, biscuit malt and some nuttiness. Taste has all of the elements of the nose, sweet, malty and nutty. The taste and the finish are extremely dry. Over the taste seems a bit disjointed. The palate felt a bit thin for the size of the beer. Despite this, I really could not detect any heat. Overall, decent but nothing to get terribly excited about. Thanks Greg!

Pretty good beer! Pours a amber brown color with a light head. Smells of winter time with the hints of hazelnut in the nose. Taste of mocha and and carmel. Delicious beer!

Flaske. Mrk ravfarvet l. Diskret duft af humle og en del malt. Ikke sd men maltdomineret med en skarp eftersmag af humle. Bitter metalisk. Udmrket velkomponeret bryg.

12-ounce bottle. Pours a dark, near-opaque orange-brown with a 3/8-inch head. Nutty, creamy, malty. Pleasant. I was expecting a little more alcohol taste. This is a good and satisfying beer, but theres something slightly amiss here. I cant quite put my finger on it. Unbalanced, I guess you could say. The different flavors dont synergize like they would from a "great" beer. It seems that Avery gets so close to that world-class level without actually breaking through to it. They made very good beers, not "great" beers, in my humble opinion. As is the case here.

Like Fullers 1845, this is a seasonal. But like that beer, it is not a traditional spiced holiday ale. It is a well brewed strong ale. Aromas and flavors of toffee, brown sugar, and roasted malts.

Probably one of the better "non-spiced" winter beers I’ve had. Solid malt flavor....some nuttiness and under-tones of coffee and toffee. Aroma mainly malty...not much beyond that. Alcohol is decent...can’t really taste it.

bottle. Pours dark brown with a tan head. Nose is ugh! rotten fruit and stinky feet. Do not care for the aroma at all. Taste, however, was better than the smell. Taste is of nuts, brown sugar and roast malt. Mouthfeel is medium with some alcohol. So-so.

From Voldby, DK. Bottled, 080109. Brown with off-white head. Aroma of malt and hop spices. Flavor is of dried fruit, wood, alcohol, caramel and herbs.
