Bottle. Pours brown with red highlights and a nice tan head. The aroma is dried fruit and a bit of leather, some citric hops. The hops come through stronger the flavor and the fruits take a back seat, some slightly burnt aftertastes mingling withe the strong hops. I might have called this one closer to 6.5% or 7%, so the alcohol is well hidden. This is a reasonable beer, though not a standout in my book. Reddish brown, medium sized beige head. Clean, crisp aroma - spicy, and even a bit grapey. Flavor is piney at first, then a fruity, grapey note. Earthy, woodsy finish. BillKismet (4165) - Seattle, Washington, USA - NOV 19, 2006
Chestnut brown color with a full chocolate cream crown. Mildy hoppy aroma wafts easily away. Woodiness in flavor with ambiguous nuttiness and spiciness and finish of wood and alcohol. Decent brown ale/APA with woody character. Alcohol is well integrated. Enjoyable mouthfeel. More hoppy that I prefer for a winter beer, but well crafted. UPDATED: SEP 8, 2007 Pours to a garnet shade with a creamy head, with a nose of maple, caramel, different woods, and alcohol. Rich flavors of raisins, bourbon, and fruitcake, finishing with a bit of burn reminiscent of Robitussin. Flavorful, but it began to strike me as strangely overcomplicated, as if someone poured a bit of cough medicine on chocolate cake. Might even be a bit young. Bottle. Pours brown with a tan head. The aroma is sweet with fruits and toasted malts. The flavor seems spicy, with a nice mix of malts and a hint of hops. Light to medium body with a light bitterness throughout.

Dark brown colour, thick spongy off-white head. Flowers (roses) in the aroma. Very sweet and spicy, with christmas flavours. Nice palate, roasted taste. Good! Finishes with a strong bitterness. FrankJohansen (3622) - Sabro, DENMARK - FEB 5, 2007

Neat citric nose, grapefruit, lime, red apple and solid dose of brown malts.
Appearance: brown, clear, creamy tanned top.3+
Medium full bodied, light roast below with potent and clean hop character. Smooth balanced work.
pours deep red with a beige foamy head that ligners for quite a while and leaves generous amounts of lacing. smell is of molasses, and for a fleeting moment I smelled chocolate and some dried fruits as well. taste is kind of flat compared to what I would hoped it would be. Has that sort of avery’s molasses brown sugar taste. dry hoppy finish with earthy taste. I get lots of spices as well, although not quite as spiced as anchors christmas brew I think this works in its subtlety. Love the discount price at beers of the world.
