On tap @ Ratman’s house. Huge thanks! Amber orange appearance with a foamy off white head. Fairly fruity (apple, pear, orange), Belgian yeasty, slightly spicy, sweet Belgian ale nose. Spicy, Belgian caramel malty body with fruity notes. Great malty Belgian Quad. Alcohol is hidden extremely well. 3fourths (9367) - Boulder, Colorado, USA - MAR 20, 2009
UPDATED: MAR 21, 2009 Draft at Avery. Unfiltered and hazed golden amber colored body with a fine off-white head. First whiff is strong dusty saison yeast, but it’s quite cold and as it warms the more sweet candy sugar and pear brandy notes tend to dominate. Up front it’s basically all candy sugar, coming across as a mixture of pear, peach rind, sweet oranges, that whole thing. A lot of this is present is the base Reverend and I tend to find it unappealing in this beer as well. Body is medium to full frothiness, but it’s completely forgettable. When warmer the nose is mostly alcohol oranges and pears, sweet and full of candy sugar, twangy as well. Becomes unpleasant and brash.

Handbottle thanks to thirdeye11. Pours with a clear, peachy-copper hue with a very minimal, just off-white head that doesn’t stick around for long. Aromas are spicy, phenols, peppery yeast, apple, poached pear, ginger, honey, dried dates, figs, brown sugar and molasses. Flavors of ginger, dried fruits, spicy, dates, pepper, saison yeast (I have used 3 of the 4 yeasts before), pear. Really nice, interesting and strong flavors. Candied sugar. Very dry, alcohol is decently well hidden but still a touch warming. Light carbonation. Super dry and full of saison yeast character. Interesting! thirdeye11 (6162) - Dallas, Texas, USA - SEP 15, 2011
(750ml bottle in trade with ratman) clear copper with a few white bubbles. Nose of caramel, oats, and honey. Taste of honey comb, mild alcohol, oak, raisin, and a medium thick body. Oats in the finish, quite smooth. Easy to drink too. HonkeyBra (4044) - Lemont, Illinois, USA - MAR 17, 2009
Crushed with Carythedude and jakebra at the brewery. Yeasty aroma. Flavor is saisony, but with a lot more malt. Cool, fun experiment to try with friends. Aubrey (3516) - Bellingham, Washington, USA - APR 5, 2009
Draft at the tasting room: Deep amber-orange with golden highlights and a slight haze. Lively carbonation creates a very fluffy texture. Cakey-sweet up front with big yeast overtones. Bread dough and banana cream. Spicy, peppery background. Nice herbal zing. Slight sourness. Lingering bitterness on the tongue, somewhat drying. Hints of bananas and other curious fruits. Warm nips of alcohol, too ... and yeasty residues. Neat beer. ryan (3185) - Beltsville, Maryland, USA - APR 10, 2012
Sweet honey and cookie dough body with a touch of apple and pear. Moderately boozy with a full sticky body. Not as bad as anticipated, but not great either.
