A fine double IPA, but I had Avery’s Maharaja first, and I can’t help but think of this as sort of a session version of that delicious IPA. Raja pours cloudy yellow with average head and light carbonation. Like Maharaja, the aroma is maltier than I expect from a double IPA. But it’s a delicious aroma, with fruit and citrus tanginess behind the buttery richness. The flavor is rich and smooth and tasty, with the juicy IPA qualities working with, rather than drowning, the smooth malt. This beer doesn’t benefit from the branding, which forces Avery fans to compare it to the far superior Maharaja. But it stands on it’s own, and it’s a fine beer.
Truly solid. It takes a perfect balance of rich caramel hops with a touch of floral and mild citrus. Hop bitterness is complex but not overpowering. Fantastic

Pours a light gold color with ample white head. Aroma is heavy with hops. Taste is indeed double hoppy, bitter with typical IPA profile. This is a basic IPA, and if you like IPAs, you will like Raja. kyzr (1578) - Montana, USA - JUL 27, 2017
Cloudy gold pour with nice sized thick white head. Fruity citurs and sweet nose. Flavor is big up front with sweet candy orange and grapefruit. Nice malt backup and clean bitter finish. bergstaden (3044) - Røros, NORWAY - JUN 11, 2017
Pale golden with a white head - Tropical and citrus hops in the aroma - Malt body with a good hop profile that is fruity with tropical flavours, citrus and some hints of herbal pine that is bitter - The flavours from hops goes into the finish that ends dry - This was good tillmac62 (741) - Gaffney, South Carolina, USA - JUN 8, 2017
Extremely cloudy pour that approaches unfiltered in density that is dull yellow gold. Outstanding head volume, lacing and retention.
Outstanding nose of not quite sweet tropical fruit (pineapple, light mango) coupled with orange zest and a touch of grapefruit. Light alcohol note.
Medium body that is smooth with a light oily touch. Outstanding carbonation / body balance. The middle provides a prickly effervescence while the finish is finely bubbled and quite lively. It’s not quite rollicking but it comes close.
The flavor profile is very good. Flavors never separate well but the blended effect is quite nice. The flavors of the nose are present. Tropical fruits control the middle, which has a touch of sweetness. Bitterness is moderate and is composed of zest and pine. From the middle on, grapefruit zest leads then yields to pine as the finish approaches. Near the finish, alcohol becomes uncovered and delivers a medicinal aspect coupled with light astringency. The finishes lingers and is a mix of zest, pine and medicinal alcohol.

Satisfying bitterness offset by an outsized sweetness. Starts with an immense dose of caramel malt, giving the beer a sugary base that makes the ensuing citric-tropical hop notes almost grow cloy in their prominence. Lots of orange and mango in the middle, and the finish grows piney and resinous, but the sweetness never abates, turning the fade almost medicinal in its palate-scouring IBUs. Grows a bit astringent, too, the feel a bit harsh for an 8% beer. Maharaja’s the way to go. User452967 (99) - - JUN 3, 2017
A very malty aroma, look really nice with a 2-3 finger head. The taste is malty, bitter and very heavy (some alcohol gets through). A bit odd being an IPA. A very nice experience indeed. Arve_Christian (5184) - Oslo, NORWAY - JUN 2, 2017
On can from Vinmonopolet Strømmen, on order. Golden cloudy color, good foam. Medium high aroma intensity; hops, fruitiness, caramel and some toffee. Medium full body & complexity . Some sweetness, ok bitterness and balance . Very enjoyable
