This isnt a bad beer, and its actually better than Id expected it to be, given that I found it at Sams Club for a fairly low price. But its definitely a stepping stone kind of beer. More aggressive than the light, crisp tartness of a goze or Berliner Weiss, but without the strong, intense, multi-faceted bombast of a Flanders style sour brown ale. This beer pours brown with reddish highlights and a decent amount of crackly foam. The aroma is heavy on the raspberries, but some oak is on the nose, too. The flavor is woody and dense up front, and closes with a blast of the raspberries and oak again, before a mildly malty exhale. I could do without the raspberry notes, I have to wonder if the raspberry flavoring is added to punch up an otherwise slightly muted sour brown. But, overall, it certainly isnt bad beer.

I had this at Global Brew. Pours reddish with a very thin white head. Taste sour/tart, raspberry, fruity. I thought this was good. I would drink this again. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Pours an odd clear, dark, ruby color with a bubbly, off white head that recedes extremely quickly. The aroma is tart and contains heavy raspberry, cherry, vinegar, and oak. The taste is very dry, acidic, and has traces of sugar. This hits you with a short and powerful sour punch. Lots of raspberry and cherry, and a healthy oak presence is found here. Mild raspberry aftertaste. Its lighter in body, with a sticky texture, and has some lively carbonation. This one is pretty intense.

Bomber via trade, shared with the BXL tasting crew. Ambre, col fin beige retombant rapidement.

Hazy red, small white head and light lacing on the glass. Raspberries, skin wood, lactic sourness, dry finish.

Draft. Pours amber with an off white head. Lightly acetic base, some raspberry sweetness, mild malty sweetness, and a mild-moderate tart and acetic finish. Pretty good.

Pours into the glass a perfectly deep amber with a nice soapy tan head that quickly reduces to trace lacing... beautiful. The aroma hits the nose well before the glass comes near the face. It is of fresh, almost unripened raspberries, with intermingling lactobacillus/apple cider vinegar notes. Flavors are deeply sour, of Granny Smith unripened apples, Bing cherries, HUGE freshly-picked unripened raspberries, lactobacillus additions, and finishes with a woody oaken berry skin. The full body and active, juicy mouthfeel satiates the palate with a nice sour complexity. Im a mark for wild sours, and Avery does not disappoint with this offering. The oak aging really adds to the brew, and begs for another. Prost!

Draft to taster at Cappys pour light ruby with minimal ecru head. Nose light tart, some fruit, light powdery. Taste light tart up front, lighter berry flavors and not overwhelming raspberry. I dont particularly like sours nor raspberry, but I could tolerate this.
