Warm reddish brown color. Fruity with hop aromas. Interesting sweet and bitter combination of taste. Roasty malt and earthy hop tones. Medium palate. Nice long dry finish, that roasted malt lasted awhile. Good stuff. Gusler (2653) - Tucson, Arizona, USA - MAY 10, 2003
Another great beer from Avery, fresh from the tap at “Papago Brewery”.

Quite dark amber color, the head portly in size, frothy in its texture, the color a winsome tan and the resultant lace a fine covering upon the glass. Sweet malt nose, crisp and clean as it the start, the top moderate in its feel to the palate. Finish was acidic and nicely hopped, dry linger aftertaste, a quite quaffable brew.
Grapefruit juice red with a huge, thick off-white head. Big nose of fresh baked bread and citrusy hops. Big cacsade hops nose like a Rogue Ale. Sweet caramel is the first taste. An almost sour apple note is lurking beneath the bready, thick, sweet malt. Hops is mighty and clean and stays strong on the palate long after I've swallowed. Mmm Mmm good! sloth (2897) - Ceciltucky, Co., Maryland, USA - APR 3, 2003
Off white head,some laceing left behind.Beautiful,bright dark amber color.Malty nose.Medium palate.Malty sweet, kinda sticky.Like my ambers a little cleaner.Still a good drinking brew. Pjones6738 (500) - Madison, Wisconsin, USA - JAN 12, 2003
Reddish color. Smell is of malt and citrus. Caramel taste, but really sweet. Nothing more than an average unimpressive beer.

Terribly nice American ale showing off quite complex malt flavors with hops playing the background role, as per style. This is an easy drinker, but the toasted, fruity and caramel malt flavors will grab your attention. Great lacing too. Terminus (3679) - St. Louis, Missouri, USA - DEC 31, 2002
UPDATED: NOV 1, 2005 Re-rate-pours a dark copper hue with with nice tan rocky head. medium carbonation. very cascade hop aroma-slight citrus but mostly caramel malts and piney hops. very balanced flavors of biscut-y/toasty malts and piney hops. body is pretty good for an amber ale. long hoppy finish. Definately a solid amber! I dont think i have had a bad avery beer yet! Crit (3977) - Surrey, British Columbia, CANADA - DEC 18, 2002

Very interesting taste---kinda tart, kinda bitter, with carmel Nicely complex flavor, with slightly oily mouthfeel. Pleasant surprise, especially since it was cheap when purchased. Would definately purchase again... austinpowers (2828) - New York, New York, USA - NOV 4, 2002
I can’t see clearly, but the label appears to depict a pointy hunk of moldy bleu cheese. Ample malt to balance out the hops here. Given its warmth, you’d think it’s 7% abv. Oddly, I can’t taste the bleu cheese at all.
