COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Some beer lovers enjoy a rich, malty brew, while others go more for hoppy beers. Our brewmaster likes both - as evidenced by this rich and caramelly amber ale with the distinct flavor and bouquet of Cascade hops. Reaching the perfect balance of crystal malt sweetness and hop bitterness took plenty of time and effort, making Redpoint the perfect beer for toasting your most recent success.

(USA) There is a Copper color with a thin white head to this brew. The aroma is of Toffee / Caramel. Goes down smooth with a slight bitter aftertaste !!! A bit weak overall , but not that bad.

Pours a cloudy like brown -reddish hue with light head. Aroma, I can’t smell anything. Taste a little watered down, slight hint of the alcohol flavor you get from Imperial IPA(s). Got this beer in a variety case and I have to say so far this is not a good showing for Avery, who makes a delicious I mean breathtaking IPA in the Avery dunga (something like that).

UPDATED: FEB 9, 2007 Head is initially average sized, frothy, off-white, mostly diminishing. Body is clear dark amber. Aroma is lightly to moderately malty (toasted grain, cookie), lightly to moderately hoppy (grapefruit), with light notes of ashtray, dirt. Flavor is moderately sweet, lightly bitter, lightly acidic. Finish is lightly sweet, lightly to moderately acidic, moderately bitter. Medium body, watery texture, lively carbonation. Kinda dull this time around, with a hint of that ashtray stink I found plentiful in this year’s Mephistopheles. I wonder what the deal is.

This beer is alright. It is too hoppy for me, reminds me of Sam Adams...which is also to hoppy.

Strange (to me) raisiny malt aroma. Cloudy amber color. Head went fast. It’s malty, it thins quickly, and the hop does not have much presence. There is a grapefruit presence, but it is not all that bitter. Somehow I don’t find this all that attractive. It improves with more sips and time, but ....

Amber body with small off-white head. Aroma of lightly sweet malts. Flavor is similar... some dark fruits but little hop presence. Strange vegetable taste as well.

MilkmanDan (1942) - Eagan, Minnesota, USA - APR 25, 2002
Deeply unimpressed. Pours reddish-orange, with a good firm head that had some staying power. Nice nose, lots of cola and caramel with noticeable yeastiness and hops. Initial taste is very sweet and the finish doesn't diminish the sweetness. Get flavors of cream soda/root beer, but the malts are oversweet and overpower any balancing hoppiness. Finish starts creamy, but gets watery rather quickly.

12 oz bottle-pours a cloudy amber color w/a nice tan head & great lacing. Aroma of hops & malt. Heavy hop flavor, just overpowering, far too much for this style. Don’t really get any malt sweetness, finish or balance at all. Pours good, smells good, taste just doesn’t deliver. Long hop finish.
