3.9 AROMA 10/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Bottle, after a few draft samples last month. Pours translucent ruby chestnut, topped with a thin off white head. Beautiful aroma; the barrel characteristics predominate, with plenty of rum and lots of wood, with notes of vanilla, spice, and pumpkin in the background. Brown sugar and spice hit the palate for an instant, and are quickly overcome by rum. Intense finish, with lots of alcohol and dark fruit. I love the aroma, but the flavor doesn’t measure up.
Rum, pumpkins, alcohol, heavy spices, butterscotch, dried prunes and raisins.
Dark hazy amber colour, no head.
Heavy alcohol, pumpkins, spices, lots of rum, brown sugar, caramel, very sweet, lightly tart, low bitterness.
Full bodied, soft carbonation, slick feel, sweet and warming finish.
Powerful, carries abv well, but one-dimensionally sweet. cglans (303) - - OCT 13, 2017
35.5cl bottle. batch 6. 17.5% ABV.
dark cloudy orange color, small white head.. pumpkin, cinnamon, spices, raisins. overall very sweet. medium bitterness with medium carbonation. ~mild considering the alcohol volume, nicely brewed. dwyerpg (6365) - Las Vegas, Nevada, USA - OCT 5, 2017
My bottle has it at 16.9%. Only the fact that this is Avery and it's the season caused me to purchase this, as I don't much care for pumpkin beers. That said, this is great, the pumpkin is subtle but there. It's strong bit not overly sweet. So often, if I know a beer is a top 50, or higher, I find it overrated. Not here. Plain delicious.wotth the price too. pictoman (1184) - Vancouver, British Columbia, CANADA - SEP 25, 2017
Poured from 12 fl oz bottle (bottle 17 Aug 2016; ABV listed as 17.5%). Clear deep orangey brown with quickly dissipating off white head. Pumpkin, nutmeg, cinnamon, mild alcohol kick that is more sweet than boozy. Another dangerous beer from Avery with a deceptively high ABV. MetalNHopHead (2123) - Lincoln, Nebraska, USA - SEP 1, 2017
Avery has that knack for making insanely boozy beers highly drinkable. Rumpkin might just be their best-executed example of that. This orange-brown brew looks as autumnal as it smells. Malty, boozy, and spicy nose with a large dose of pumpkin. Toasted sugar, vanilla, toffee, pumpkin, and mild chocolate flavors. This tastes like the bastard child of pumpkin pie and rum cake... just with more alcohol. Amazingly smooth for 18.1%. This is definitely one to enjoy with a friend, or it might give you sea legs.

A- Rum, spice, burnt caramel.
A- Dark copper color, clear liquid, minimal head.
T- Rum, brown sugar, burnt caramel, butterscotch, spice.
P- Full body, average texture, average carbonation, balanced finish.
O- At a year old this is still pretty boozy yet balanced and not overpowering. You feel the 18% but it drinks more like 8%. Basically tastes like if Captain Morgan made a pumpkin flavored rum. Really quite tasty. DiarmaidBHK (5649) - Lewisburg, Pennsylvania, USA - MAY 28, 2017
Taster at Eggspectation Chantilly. Pours brown with a thin head. Massive pumpkin and booze on the nose. Lots of booze on the tongue along with the rum and the huge pumpkin spices. Finish lingers a bit. Definitely not for the faint of heart. magsinva (1423) - Virginia, USA - MAY 28, 2017
Tap @ Eggspectation Chantilly- Pours deep orange brown with no head, but a few tiny bubbles. Aroma is fabulous, rum, brown sugar, pumpkins, seeet potatoes, and all things autumnal. superspak (5874) - Waterford, Michigan, USA - MAY 11, 2017
12 ounce bottle into snifter, bottled on 8/17/2016. Pours slightly hazy/cloudy deep orange/copper color with a 1 finger fairly dense and fluffy off white head with good retention, that reduces to a spotty lace cap that lingers. Light spotty lacing clings on the glass, with a fair amount of streaming carbonation retaining the cap. Aromas of huge pumpkin, cinnamon, nutmeg, clove, ginger bread, vanilla, rum, toasted oak, toffee, brown sugar, and brown bread; with light notes of molasses, chocolate, cocoa, dark fruits, herbal, and oak/toasted earthiness. Incredible aromas with fantastic complexity and balance of pumpkin, spices, bready malt, and rum barrel notes; with big strength. Minimal booziness as it warms. Taste of huge pumpkin, cinnamon, nutmeg, clove, ginger bread, vanilla, rum, toasted oak, toffee, brown sugar, and brown bread; with light notes of molasses, chocolate, cocoa, dark fruits, herbal, and oak/toasted earthiness. Light-moderate herbal/spice bitterness and rum/oak spiciness on the finish. Lingering notes of pumpkin, cinnamon, nutmeg, clove, ginger bread, vanilla, rum, toasted oak, toffee, brown sugar, brown bread, light molasses/cocoa, and herbal/oak/toasted earthiness on the finish for a while. Incredible complexity, robustness, and balance of pumpkin, spices, bready malt, and rum barrel flavors; with an awesome malt/bitter/spiciness balance, and zero astringent flavors after the finish. Light dryness from bitterness and rum/oak spiciness, increasing through the glass. Light-medium carbonation and medium-full body; with a very smooth, moderately creamy/bready/grainy, and fairly sticky/tannic balanced mouthfeel that is great. Alcohol is very well hidden; a small increasing warmth, with mild barrel booziness lingering after the finish. Overall this is an amazing barrel aged imperial pumpkin ale! All around incredible complexity, robustness, and balance of pumpkin, spices, bready malt, and rum barrel flavors; very smooth and dangerously easy to sip on for the enormous ABV. Absolutely perfectly balanced between malt, spice, and rum barrel complexity. Great barrel presence without being overly boozy, tannic, or drying. After less than 9 months of age, this is already ready to go. The 17.5% is exceptionally well masked. A highly enjoyable offering. Bule (2239) - California, USA - MAY 1, 2017
12oz bottle pours a brown color with a bit of head. Pumpkin pie aroma. Nice spice balance and they go so well with the run barrel.
