Murky reddish copper, no head. Nice complex sour aroma of whiskey, dark fruits, toffee, slight acidity and slight sourness. Flavor is the same in every good way. Boozy woody dark fruity malts, toffee, some whiskey tones, raisins and cherries, slight sour acidity, with a boozy sweet finish. Basically tasted like the beer form of a whisky sour with some fruity esters from the Reverend base.

UPDATED: FEB 13, 2012 Tap @ Avery. Brown appearance with a tan head. Interesting aroma- grapes, white wine, brown sugar, caramel, and some toasty malts. The flavor is really incredibly- sweet caramel malty, brown sugar, candy sugar along with the white wine, grape, dry flavors. There’s a real nice Bourbon flavor to the beer and overall, quite effervescent. I’m pleasantly surprised by this strange sounding concoction.

On tap at Falling Rock during GABF weekend- Friday. Pours a dark red color with a medium white head. The nose was dominated by a blue cheese note, some funkiness and grapes. I actually didn’t get a ton of bourbon in this beer, more funky sweet vanilla and cheese, some caramel, fruity flavors akin to grapes and berries. Pour on tap at the brewery, dark almost purple looking pour with thin off white head, aroma brought notes of lots of grapes, dark fruits and berries, slight hint of weird vanilla with some funky notes, as some odd oak and vanilla come through as well. Taste was even more all over the place, weird grape and berry notes went into a weird oaky vanilla, from the bourbon I assume, hint of dark fruit and a slight funkiness, some vinous notes as well. draft. medium sweet grape / pear juice / sangria nose. minerallic and rough texture, boozy and sweet and sticky with mild prickly acid on the edges. clashing blueberry / grape / cherry fruit syrup with overly strong maple syrup and vanilla flavored bourbon / wood character, boozy late with a flabby body. messy and poorly executed. On tap at Avery. Pours with a hazed amber-bronze hued body with a off-white head. Aromas are fruity, estery, grapes, light bourbon and some vinous notes. Flavors are sweet, jammy, juicy, vinous, lightly peppery oak, deep malt character. Light bubbles, well hidden alcohol. Quite tasty.
