Tap @ Avery during GABF week. Pours a brown appearance with a mild cream colored head. Pretty rich whiskey, vanilla, caramel, toffee, a bit fruity aroma. Tons of yeast on the nose. Sweetness of the malts immediately follows creating a caramel-flavor. Oak aging shows on the finish. Slightly off-balanced with the heavily accented malts. On tap at Avery, pour was dark brownish red with thin off white head, aroma brought notes of nice sweet bourbon, vanilla, and oak, lots of molasses, toffee, dark fruits, earth, and very sweet toffee, burnt sugars. Taste is very sweet but tasty, vanilla, bourbon/whiskey notes with hints of oak, molasses, dark fruits, finishing fairly sweet, little to no booze. Great treatment of the normal Samael’s. Adds a ton of toffee and vanilla notes. Bourbon present, but works so well with this it doesn’t stand out. Really really good.

On tap at Avery poured a clear reddish amber with a small lingering amber head. Aromas of bourbon, oak, carmel, toffee, fruittiness and light molasses. Palate was medium bodied and smooth. Aged in Bourbon Oak Barrels. This was released at the Rumpkin 2012 release party. Taste is a very vanilla version of the Samael’s with lots of Bourbon on the nose. a little oxidized but goes well with the malting and overall flavor. Carbonation is a little low, which is sort of weird considering it was only force carbonated for kegging. IF you see it on the menu, buy it, don’t hesitate, don’t collect $200 when you pass Go. . . .
