At Boulder Strong Ale. ’11 edition in Leopold Brothers whiskey barrels. Big whiskey, vanilla, caramel, and toffee nose. Dark brown with some red. Toffee and whiskey with incredibly long finish of vanilla and dates, and warm whiskey. Very rich. Top 5 from fest. If this ever gets bottled-find it. onceblind (10905) - Denver, Colorado, USA - NOV 30, 2012
Tap at Avery. Hazy amber chestnut, with a thin spotty head. Intense aroma of boozy dark candy sugar and molasses, with some light cocoa, vanilla, whiskey, and boozy caramel. The flavor was a very intoxicating palate bomb, full of boozy caramel, warm brown sugar notes, and a certain essence like chocolate pop tarts. Kinda malty-whiskey ish on the finish with a little vanilla and oak, but primarily pretty boozy sweet with caramel and dried cocoa biscuit...like a chocolate pop tart.
