Brewed with two-row malted barley, honey malt, and imported Belgian specialty grains (aromatic, pale wheat, roasted wheat, and Special B), hops (Magnum, Galena, Saaz, Hallertau, Tettnang, and Hersbrucker), brewing sugars (raisins, dates, blackstrap molasses, alfalfa honey, turbinado, and dark Belgian candy sugar), water, Belgian yeast and another hellion of a yeast strain.OG: 1.138

Have had many vintages of this and it is always so booze. Pours out dark amber a small tan head. Nose is booze big rich pit fruit malts lots of sweetness. Taste is more of the heat heavy malts and tons of ripe pit fruit sweetness.

Scored an 8/2014 release at Friar Tuck. Strong cocoa aroma with candy sweetness, oak and booze. Odd medium brown color, tiny off white head. Taste follows the aroma - dark chocolate, oak and candy with a sweet and boozy aftertaste. Good thick low carb palate. This was great. Highly recommend.

Sample of a 2004 vintage bottle at the Avery 23rd Anniversary Party. Cloudy reddish brown pour, with a small, light tan head. Nose of caramel, peanut, butterscotch, peat, a bit musty, and cloves. Very sweet, with light bitterness. Very heavy body, syrupy, grainy, and thick. This is a seriously intense and delicious beer. Strong and very deep, but smooth and focused.

2014 Bottle - Poured red like a V-8 but settled into a nice rusty red. Nice aroma of plums, raisins and dried fruit. A sweet taste of caramel and dried fruits. Very smooth! Im sorry that I only have access to one.

Bottle at Oliver Twist. Deep amber pour with small, white head. Big aroma of dried fruit, caramel, figs, dates, raisins oak and brown sugar. Quite sweet, but a little bit dusty, taste with caramel, raisin, figs, dates, oak, vanilla. Very light bready notes. Short, sweetish finish.

Bottle. Amber pour with pink head. Boozy, dark fruits, Belgian candy aromas. Burnt and roasted, cherries on the the after taste. Flavors are roasted, chocolate, dark fruit and Belgian sugar. Cant drink a ton.

Im not sure the batch, it said 17.2% ABV on the bottle. Gorgeous mahogany hue with a lush burnt caramel head. Thick vanilla yeast scent dominates the tightly wound nose, though flickers embers of Bananas Foster dance off the glass at times. Bready banana liquor body. Sweet, with alcohol just under the breath, like a flutter of air beneath the door. Well-masked ABV considering the monster octane on this one. Drunken crusty bread finish.

2014 bottle. Hazy deep amber pour. Grape, sweet candies sugar in the aroma. Strong taste, hot alcohol, then awash in sweet grains, cinnamon, ruby port, and baked apple. Lingering alcohol burn but in a welcome way. A year plus more would have been nice.
