COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
The Beast is a seducer - accomodating, complicated, powerful, dark and created to last the ages. Beyond this, it’s futile to attempt to describe Him. He will unveil Himself differently to each of His followers. The mark is in His constitution. Brewed with two-row malted barley, honey malt, and imported Belgian specialty grains (aromatic, pale wheat, roasted wheat, and Special B), hops (Magnum, Galena, Saaz, Hallertau, Tettnang, and Hersbrucker), brewing sugars (raisins, dates, blackstrap molasses, alfalfa honey, turbinado, and dark Belgian candy sugar), water, Belgian yeast and another hellion of a yeast strain.OG: 1.138

Had on tap at blind tiger (this is the 2010)- pours a hazy mahogany color with 1.5 fingers of creamy white head. Good retention, some splashes of lacing. Smell is great- very thick and a little musty. Lots of toasted barley, some molasses, a little booze. Surprisingly little for the abv. I smell some wood as well. Tastes fantastic- full of smooth, rich barley malt flavor. Certainly sweet, rich caramel flavors, a little spice, kind of peppery. Toffee. Mouthfeel is very appropriate- full bodied, modest carbonation but enough to make it possible to drink. Long finish that leaves a nice bready caramel flavor. I would definitely get this one again. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

2006 Vintage. Very intense aroma of milk chocolate, Cocio, prunes, raisins, wet wood, smoke, nuts, almonds etc etc etc. Maybe the most perfect aroma I have ever experienced. Clear reddish brown with long lasting low brown head. Medium sweet & light sour taste. Medium body, oily texture, soft carbonation & very very long finish with the high alcohol in a perfect warming balance. Not only the best beer I have tasted this year, but maybe the best of the decade!!!

2015 bottle. Pours a orange brown with an off-white head. Nose is very fruity. I pick up date, raisin, fig, molasses, a hint of honey, and a ton of alcohol. Taste hits you with alcohol first and foremost. Underneath the booze there is dark fruit: dates and figs. The molasses comes through but the honey is missing. The mouthfeel is very syrupy. Medium bodied with light, crisp carbonation. Big and bold, but probably the weakest of the Demons of Ale. I'll still miss Mephistopheles; this not so much.

06.06.2017, 12 oz bottle (2007 vintage) shared with a college @ Olutravintola Pikkulintu:
Small bubbly shortlasting head. Aroma is slightly rich and dry mineraly, cocoa, minerals, alcohol, Cocio dark chocolate milk, oak, bark, toast, toffee, nuts, raisins, dusty cellar, prunes. Taste is slightly rich and dry sour-ish mineraly, raisins, minerals, bark, alcohol, toast, cocoa, toffee, fruit stones, oak, grass, prunes, nuts. Medium bitterness, slightly dry sour-ish mineraly mouthfeel. Nice one.

TXBadger (2811) - Dallas, Texas, USA - JUN 5, 2017
Bottle from 2014. Pours a cloudy/milky brownish color with little off-white head. Dark fruits, raisin, fig, nuts, and plenty of alcohol on the nose; follows onto the palate. Full bodied, thick, and sticky. Finishes very hot, even with age, this still had plenty of alcohol booziness on it, with dark fruits mixed in.

2016 bottling. Fairly low booziness given the ABV. Sweet and sticky in a good way.

scarletfire65 (1485) - Chicago, Illinois, USA - MAY 12, 2017
16.8 % ABV. Clear red pour. Bone white head. Aroma of dried fruit, oak, port, butterscotch, strawberries. Huge malt body, it starts out sugary sweet. Lots of warming booze, with anise, cinnamon, vanilla, oak, and a bitter - sweet finish. Really good, but so big it could take a bit more time in the barrel.

3.8
Tide (4058) - Helsinki, FINLAND - APR 26, 2017
Draught at Beer Hall SF. Dark copper color, white head. Bittersweet taste with citrus, malts, toffee, caramel, ripe fruits, a bit of hops, alcohol, earthy notes and nuts. Bittersweet finish with citrus, hops, nuts, toffee, caramel, ripe fruits, dried fruits and earthy notes. Excellent brew, albeit too strong.
