Behold the stunning crimson hues through the inky blackness. Inhale the noble Hallertau hops, spicy and floral. Savor the flavors redolent of English toffee, rich mocha, sweet molasses, candied currants and a hint of anise. We highly recommend cellaring additional bottles, as the Czar will continue to mature and become denser and more complex with age.

Aroma is grapes, bubblegum and dark malts. The flavor is dryish dark/roasted malts, chocolate, mild coffee, dark fruit/slight grapes and an acidic/slightly sour finish.

22 oz bottle. A little underwhelming, this was the 2015 version but I picked up some winey notes typical of aged brews. No head whatsoever. A little hoppier than a typical imperial stout. Otherwise flavors were pretty muddled, nothing stands out. Still a very nice beer but for the style a bit of a let down.

Go to imperial stout. On the darker side of Tan head. Aroma of roasted coffee. Smooth taste

Bottle from Maro Brothers. Drank with Dennis Bell. Nice notes of roasted malt, nuts, some booze, dark fruit and chocolate. The body was slightly thin and milky for my taste, but the brew had a decent blend...not just heavy roast. Well done.

22 oz bottle shared with jasonn. This is from 2011, batch 10, with a 10.57% ABV. I'm shocked I haven't rated this yet! The pour is a nice black, a little thin, with a thin collar of light tan head and a couple spots of lace. The aroma is a little sweet. It's milky and light. There is a good roasted all and a strong chocolate on the finish. There is a light molasses present as well. It's got a light, yet strangely complex aroma. The flavor is good. There is the light milkiness, but it turns to a bitter chocolate and a lovely bitter roast. It's basic, yet well done and well developed. The mouth feel is thinner and light with a light carbonation and a lingeringly bitter and sweet mouth feel. It's leaving a little to be desired, but overall it's a solid brew. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

2012 bottle, purchased April 2013. Nice black pour, lovely light brown, creamy, heavy head turns to a moderate ring; medium lacing. Molasses, raisin, chocolate, booze. Thereís some off smell and flavor in here that doesnít agree with me; itís possibly the currants, but Iím getting rotting cardboard and plastic, I donít know. Forgettable and slightly gross.

Dark brown real dark brown with small real small tan head. Huge aromas of cocoa and fennel and obviously roasted malts. Flavor of rich and bitter chocolate. Additional anise and coffe and some burnt caramel. Light earthy hops finished extra rich with slight alcohol edge.
