Opaque black beer, no real head. Light palate, fairly smooth. Sweet black coffee. A little sweet lactose. Underneath are sweet red berry fruits. Nicely joined up and smooth. Hides the abv very well. Tasty treat!
Handbottle 18 cl. Courtesy of Doodler. Pours an opaque pitch black with a thick and creamy brown head. Intense aroma of hard roast malt, coffee, dark dried fruit and booze. Solid body, sweet heavy roast, again pruney dark fruits and a warming alcohol finish. Pitch black with a decent tan swirl.
Nose is sweet coffee notes, tiramisu mix, brown sugars, light roast, booze notes, sweet all round.
Taste comprises big coffee cake notes, light mineral tones, spice, chocolate, coffee fudge, earthy roast.
Full bodied, oily feel - slightly cloying but not overbearingly so, sweet licks tempered with a little roasty charr in the close.

On tap @ GABF. One of the beers I most wanted to try. Black pour from with very little, if any, head. Nose is pure coffee. Coffee liqueur, espresso, and rich dark chocolate. Roasted malt, slight alcohol, and sweet vanilla and caramel. Coffee dominates the palate. Sweet vanilla, caramel, and tons of coffee. UPDATED: DEC 4, 2008 On tap at Avery Tasting Room poured an opaque black with a small lingering brown head. Aromas of coffee, bitter chocolate and light vanilla. Palate was medium to full bodied and smooth. Flavors of coffee, bitter chocolate and light vanilla with a smooth lingering bitter coffee finish.
