Mighty boozy sweet heavy coffee chocolate oily thick monster of a beer but not easy to drink.
Draft at the brewery. Dark mahogany with a dark head. Coffee, dark, dry fruit and burned malt. bergstaden (2975) - Røros, NORWAY - APR 20, 2015
Black with a brown head - Sweet malt and coffee in the aroma - Malt and coffee flavours with some bitterness in the end - The coffe and some bitterness in the finish - This was real good Warped_Silver (124) - Sacramento, California, USA - MAR 26, 2015
Pours jet black with a thin khaki head. Significant amount of legs dripping down the glass. Aroma is very boozy with minimal coffee in the background. Small amount of bourbon and vanilla as well as toffee. Taste is boozy upfront with astringent coffee flavors in the middle followed by subtle chocolate, vanilla and caramel flavors in the finish. Kind of a harsh character to it at this point. Likely aging will subdue this aspect. Mouth feel is thick and viscous. Overall, a nice beer but not well-balanced this young.

A delicious beer. Pours a thick black with small dark brown head. Big coffee and lactose aromas as well as dark fruits and chocolate. For a beer this big the alcohol is very well masked. Big coffee and chocolate flavours and vinous sherry flavours as well. A nice warmth as it makes its way down to your belly. Awesome. baraciisch (3231) - California, USA - MAR 1, 2015
Dark black in color with tan beige head... Aroma of dark chocolate, bourbon, vanilla, caramel, booze... Flavor is rich decadent dark chocolate, vanilla, and espresso... Roasted malts with lingering alcohol burn on finish... Really nice, but a little hot...

Like the previous review, I am surprised to see this is rated so highly. Black of course. Thick and heavy palate and almost no carbonation, which is ok for an imperial stout. The whiskey is prominent in the flavor and aroma, and mostly overwhelms even the coffee. Sweet, some flavor of green pepper, and a little soy sauce. Keg at Churchill’s, San Marcos, 14/11/14.
Pitch black with a decent tan swirl.
Nose is sweet coffee notes, tiramisu mix, brown sugars, light roast, booze notes, sweet all round.
Taste comprises big coffee cake notes, light mineral tones, spice, chocolate, coffee fudge, earthy roast.
Full bodied, oily feel - slightly cloying but not overbearingly so, sweet licks tempered with a little roasty charr in the close.
Solid stuff for the ABV, a little on the sweet side as you may well expect from the ABV on display, but a solid coffee infused sipper. solidfunk (8941) - Washington D.C., Washington DC, USA - DEC 18, 2014
Not quite as good as the Mephistopheles but still a wonderful beer. Loses something with the extra coffee. A little more syrupy and thick, more oil. Some light barrel in here. Black pour with great mocha head and lacing. Milk sweet chocolate here and a sweeter finish. Some booze, and still a lot of bitterness even with the note of sweetness. Pours a dark brown with a caramel colored lacing. The aroma is predominantly coffee, chocolate and soy sauce. Finishes with some notable alcohol, but not compared to the ABV vtafro (7445) - Wayne, New Jersey, USA - AUG 8, 2014
(Backlog) Draft at avery event at blind tiger. #300 imperial stout. Black pour with tan head. Huge roasted, and coffee dominated aroma. Flavors are dark roasted coffee, some lighter dark malts and a bit of warmth.
