COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Jacob Spears, our 6th Great Grand Uncle, is credited as the first distiller to label his whiskey "Bourbon." He built his distillery in Bourbon County, Kentucky in 1790 - 203 years before began brewing. While obviously a bit too late to produce Uncle Jacob’s wash, we’ve instead created something far more complex. In his honor, we present this robust, silky smooth, full-bodied and altogether extremely American rendition of an Imperial Stout aged for 6 months in the very finest bourbon barrels. This explains a lot about our penchant for big brews! It’s in our blood!
Brewed with Rocky Mountain Water, Malter Barley, Flaked Oats, Hops and Yeast.

17.4% version from March 27th 2012. Opaque black - brown beer, good dark tan head. Palate is airy and has modest fine carbonation. Rich dark malts, quite fruity. Spicy coffee. Brandy alcohol dominates any bourbon. Finishes with more spicy tangy coffee and dark fruits. Spicy alcohol linger. Full on, five years old but could have left it another five I reckon!

Had on tap. Dark brown pour with cascading carbonation. Small head that dissipates. Big boozy aroma with notes of vanilla, fruit, and spices. Taste is smooth. Great booze taste with full mouthfeel of all ingredients coming through. One of my favorite barrel aged beers. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

At the brewery, with the same group, pours a dark black pour with a java head. Nose is whiskey and heavy malt. Taste is upfront whiskey with heavy malt. Finishes on whiskey malty notes with a long finish. Another sipper ! Quaff Score 8 / 10....8-3-8-4-18

courtesy of Marcel Vogt; 17.1% - black beer with a moderate foam left; very roasted aroma of mocha, wood, BouRbon and cherry; full-bodied, assertive, very tasty, thick, oily and with a solid sweet maltiness: very bitter, roasted chocolatey, woody and whisky-like finish - huge!

bottle. Thick black with small head. Big ass stout matched with big bourbon. Plenty of flavor to go around. Dark fruit, chocolate, somewhat hot bourbon, light oak. I can’t say it all melds perfectly, but it’s a very good beer nonetheless.

Wow. One mother of a stout. Very intense. Pours a thick black... Almost no head. Aromas of bourbon, vanilla, dried fruit. Flavours are sherry, dried fruit, burnt malts, bourbon, dark chocolate, espresso. Heat on the way down. Excellent, but a sipper.
