4 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Svart och trög. Intensiv smak som nästan blir för mycket. Portvin fast öl. Torkad frukt i massor som ger en söt och sirapslik smak. Alkoholen känns fast utan att bli stickig

3.7 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20
UPDATED: APR 13, 2016 12oz bottle, poured into a small snifter. The aroma is intense with notes of sweet caramel, berries, and bourbon, along with subtle wood and dark chocolate, followed by secondary tones of leather. It pours a rich, dark chocolate color with creamy, silky brown head with moderate retention and good, sticky lace. The taste is a high / medium-high sweet followed up by a medium high bitter that blends in. The full bodied beer has a thick and viscous texture with a soft fizz for carbonation. Initial flavors are toffee, wood, and leather with a spicy, dark chocolate and alcohol heat. The smooth finish has an alcohol zip followed by a pungent and bitter, woody spice that smooths out late with a burnt brown sugar / caramel and chocolate note. Some roasted nuts, burnt bread, and licorice come through late with a dry character and lingers, with strength, for while.

4.1 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
Deep dark, opaque brown with light mahogany highlights around the edge of the glass. Minimal deep tan head. Deep vanilla and molasses notes, quite a bit of alcohol in the nose. Also, some amount of bitter espresso. Very sweet, very bitter. Heavy syrupy body, with a ton of alcohol on the body. Extremely long finish. Outstanding.

Bottle. Pours a syrupy black brown color with a brown colored head. Mouthfeel is like butter. Notes of faint vanilla and smoke with chocolate truffle at the forefront. Really really good and not overly bourboned.

4.1 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20
Pours black with small head. Aroma: complex aroma of the usual stuff like coffee, dark fruit and chocolate as well as roasted malt, but put on the extreme. Taste is similarly extreme, but with ABV well hidden and a nice palate. Very good.

4.1 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Pours coal black with a light brown head. Flavor is sweet molasses with the whiskey barrel aging coming thru strong. You would never know it has a 17.1 abv. Nicely balanced with no burn. Nicely done!

4oz pour for $6, I feel like thatís a bargain  Well, I like to give these uber Avery beers a try. As per usual they do a better job than others... like the Bruery, who suck. Draft has decent head. This feels less sweet than Meph but I havenít had that in a decade, so who the fuck knows. Definite burn on this, duh. I miss the bourbon and coffee of Tweak. Only light autolysis, bitter malts but not too bad. Surprisingly little sweetness. Itís alcoholic but I actually miss some of the other over-the-top characteristics that go with this uber strong impy stout, I mean, go big or go home. I guess this is the balanced version of a 17% imperial stout. Obviously, 4oz is plenty enough.
