Sampled at FOBAB ’12. Oily black color with a minimal head. Roasted malts burnt and sweet in the aroma. Some oak and dark chocolate coming through. Dry roasted malt and chocolate flavors that are sweet and really roasted. Good stuff. 8/4/8/4/16
Let’s start with the 16.9 percent. Like a blinking neon light flashing "warning". Seriously, the best warning in the world. Aroma is what you might expect from a deeply carmeled stout. It pours dark as night with a small tan head. The taste?- very raisin flavored in the best possible way. No indication of the high APV in taste or in the finish. Just a rich, sweet taste without being coying. Will definitely cellar one. Turkjerkey (3) - - JUN 27, 2017 does not count

Backlog entry. Really nice and potent. Smooth, creamy, thick. High alcohol which is actually covered pretty well. SteveOrz85 (249) - Pennsylvania, USA - JUN 16, 2017
Recieved a bottle of this from a good friend. 12 oz bottle served in chalice glass. Poured dark dark black. Thin tan head. Little bit of lacing. Aroma is mostly vanilla and sweet chocolate. Flavor is chocolate and bourbon with slight burnt taste in flavor. Hint off coffee and nuttyness. Very rich in flavor. Little bit of sweetness. Full bodied beer with a lighter carbonation. Over all a very good bourbon stout. Very complex and flavorful. Andrew196 (1903) - Katy, Texas, USA - MAY 28, 2017
Dark dark dark. Dark and sweet.... Yellow edges. Very awesome, caramel, butterscotch, wood and vanilla. Slightly oily and syrupy at times but very good.

Aroma is bourbon, wood smoke, roasted malt with a hint of cocoa. Pours a dark black color with a tan we’ll laced head. The taste improves as it warms a bit, the first taste is bourbon with smoked malt followed by cocoa. An oily mouth feel with a smokey bourbon finish.

Bottled February 24 2017. Let black with an average tan head. Aroma is huge chocolate and vanilla. Cocoa, oak, and a little bourbon barrel. Really nice. Taste is vanilla, chocolate, and bourbon. Cocoa, dark roasted malts, oak barrel, and mild coffee are there too. It finishes with brown sugar like sweetness that blends with the cocoa and vanilla perfectly. Thick overall and only slightly hot, but alcohol well hidden. Finishes slightly sticky. kathouse (1893) - LAS VEGAS, Nevada, USA - APR 30, 2017

On tap at the Pour Taproom in Greenville, SC.
Pours with a dark, essentially opaque, brown-black body topped by a decent beige head that has very good retention.
Feel: full body with medium carbonation. Boozy and warm but smooth.
Aroma: boozy, sweet and nutty, with dark baked bread.
Flavor: strong. Boozy, but quite tame for ~17% ABV. Hints of roasted nuts, coffee (aftertaste), dark toast, coffee, vanilla, and dark dried fruits. Moderately sweet fading to mildly bitter.
Overall: a rich and delicious whale of a beer. wlajwl (6814) - Quad Cities, Iowa, USA - APR 22, 2017
