Pours a beautiful murky-amber, like apple cider. Complex funky, tart-lactic, wine & wood aroma. Flavor is like an everlasting gobstoper in beer form...wood and red wine, acidic-tart cherry-fruit, funk...so much going on in there. One of the best beers I’ve tasted.
Notes: On tap at the Brewery during a visit for the ’09 GABF. Also called "Opus Altar Boy" in my notes. Ratman197 (15228) - Arvada, Colorado, USA - SEP 24, 2009
On tap at Avery poured a clear amber with a lasting amber head. Aromas of barnyard, brett funk, sour grapes, light oak and light spice. Palate was light bodied and crisp with a dry tart finish. Flavors of barnyard, brett funk, oak, grapes, light leather and light spice with a crisp lingering dry tart funky finish. jimbowood (1036) - Freeport, Georgia, USA - SEP 30, 2009
Draft at Avery the gabf week 2009. Best beer of the day. Cab adds something to the brew that the port barrel didn’t. Excellent sipping brew. BeerandBlues2 (13718) - Escondido, California, USA - SEP 24, 2009
Draught at Avery. Pours clear amber with an average, frothy white head, lasting with good lacing. Aroma is heavy malt (cookie, bread, straw, toasted grain), average hop (flowers, perfume), average yeast (horse blanket, barnyard, earth) with notes of apple, pear, wine, and wood. Full bodied, sticky texture, average carbonation and a sour finish. Average duration, light sweetness, moderate acidity and sourness. alagnak (468) - Littleton, Colorado, USA - SEP 24, 2009
On tap @ Avery. Nose is really, really inviting - Brett, some leather and bread and a nice touch of woddy grapes and slight bitterness. Could smell it for a long time. Taste is highly carbonated (unexpected) with the sour brett horseblanket to start and more of the leather and wood. A nice acidic sweetness finishes with hints of vanilla and some fruitiness. Awesome elixir, this.

(Draught at Avery - GABF) opaque gold-orange with a white ring of bubbles. Nose of big honey, floral, caramel, maple, sweet, waffles, and brown sugar. Taste is mildly acetic, honey, tart, light tobacco, apple, and white wine grapes. Soft carbonation, light refreshing body, tart honey linger. Liked it a lot!
