Bottle @ home from Golositalia 2014. Retrolfattivo questi piccante. Equilibrata, intensa, complessa. Molto buona. scotchzombie (591) - Raleigh, North Carolina, USA - MAR 8, 2014
Very dark brown. Decent lacing. Tan head fades quickly. Aroma roasted malt and toffee. Taste is roasted malt. Tangy. Burnt coffee. Grains. Dates. Thick mouthfeel. Oatmeal. Burnt toast. I enjoyed this one. Had something to it.

Bottle from JCB. This pours black with a thick, fluffy tan head that laces very well. The first thing I noticed in the aroma is a bourbon soaked raisin and date scent. Light chocolate mixes in, with molasses, and some vanilla character. Smooth going down and more substantial and fuller in the body than expected. The carbonation is a touch high but nothing distracting. Allowing it to warm closer to room temp takes care of most of that. The flavors center around wood, bourbon, charred malt, and dark chocolate. A touch of sweet molasses noted in the background with some toasted coconut integrating nicely. Initial sweetness is backed up by a firm roasty bitterness in the finish. Enjoyed this one. Pours a rich sable with a very thick tan head. Strong aroma has definite notes of roast malt, coffee and chocolate with a hint of toffee. Flavor echoes the mocha and smoky malt of the aroma, with a little toffee and caramel and even a hint of woody hops. Texture is firm and smooth, though a bit lacking in fizz. Let this snake bite you. nctomatoman (13) - Raleigh, NC, North Carolina, USA - DEC 4, 2013
On tap at the brewery. I wanted to be more impressed, but clearly this paled in comparison to some of the heavy hitters we’ve been drinking at home (Bells Expedition and Kalamazoo, Founders Breakfast, Stone Imperial Russian, Terrapin Moo Hoo, etc). Amazingly, on the first sip the word "Moxie" came into my head - as in the soda I grew up with in New England (and an acquired taste). In general, this was served too cold, carbonation was too high - flavors were OK but nothing to write home about. bu11zeye (13029) - Frisco (Dallas), Texas, USA - NOV 15, 2013
(22oz bottle) Pours a mahogany body with a medium tan head. Aroma of roasted malt, chocolate, caramel, toffee, and toasted coconut. Flavor of chocolate, roasted malt, coconut, and grass with a dry, bitter finish. ericdevin (988) - Eugene, Oregon, USA - JUN 1, 2013
Draft at Pizza Paradiso, Dupont Circle. I was really taken with this beer, even if a lot of my fellow raters haven’t been. Pours very dark, with a slight tan head. Aroma is rich, roasty and with notes of milk chocolate. Body lively, roasty, oaty, Finish is huge, with a coffee-like bitterness, roasty elements and a big, strong finish. Call me a sucker for the style, but this was really well-done.
