Pours a rich sable with a very thick tan head. Strong aroma has definite notes of roast malt, coffee and chocolate with a hint of toffee. Flavor echoes the mocha and smoky malt of the aroma, with a little toffee and caramel and even a hint of woody hops. Texture is firm and smooth, though a bit lacking in fizz. Let this snake bite you.

This is one outstanding stout. Had it on nitro at the smokehouse. Really, really nice, chocolatey on the palate and leaves you wanting another pull.

Draft at the restaurant. Pours a clear very dark brown color with a medium sized frothy tan head. Decent head retention. Aroma of roasted malts, nuts, bitter hops. The taste is rich chocolate and cocoa, bitter hops, oats, nuts, faint honey notes. Lingering bitterness, well balanced, average carbonation. Very nice beer.

22oz bottle. Typical oatmeal stout coffee and chocolate aromas. Strong coffee with molasses flavors. Slight bourbon undertones. Overall a very good oatmeal stout.

Poured from can from O’Darbys. Aroma of chocolate ice cream. Solid black with heavy lacing. Tasting coffee, dry cocoa, licorice, creamy oats, dark malt, some hop presence, banana. Smooth, slightly sour feel. A great oatmeal stout.

Draft at Pizza Paradiso, Dupont Circle. I was really taken with this beer, even if a lot of my fellow raters haven’t been. Pours very dark, with a slight tan head. Aroma is rich, roasty and with notes of milk chocolate. Body lively, roasty, oaty, Finish is huge, with a coffee-like bitterness, roasty elements and a big, strong finish. Call me a sucker for the style, but this was really well-done.
