Undated 22oz bottle served in a Belgian snifter.
Pours a clear, dark reddish-mahogany with a modest tan head.
Malty, smokey and spicy compared to the average "winter warmer" (as if, with all the variability, such a thing existed). Some dark fruit and hints of hops. Excellent aroma with very good taste. Smooth, medium-full body with medium-low carbonation. geologyguy (1661) - Columbia, South Carolina, USA - MAR 27, 2014
smells of alcohol...but not overwhelmingly...and wintery spices...nice reddish brown color, taste is alcohol and spices with hops finish...then malty after the hops subside. slightly smoked taste radagast83 (8476) - Arlington, Virginia, USA - MAR 9, 2014
At the DC Craft Beer Festival. Poured a dark hazy cola color with an off-white head. Aroma was light malty notes with some fruity and spice notes. Flavor was some roasted malts, fruity notes, nice mellowed spices. Enjoyable. TimsRatings (421) - - JAN 16, 2014
On tap at BottleMixx (Raleigh).
Pours dark with lots of head (keg was close to kicking). Spices couple with hops on the aroma. Spices dominate the taste. Good fall seasonal ale.

Draft. A touch of coffee with minimal spice. Solid entry but I wouldn't call it a strong ale at 7%.

22oz bottle from The Beer Store in Wilson, NC. Rudy amber hue with mostly lasting frothy caramel head. Zero visibility with excellent lacing. Light spice, malt and some chocolate aroma. Light bitter chocolate on the initial taste with a medium malt finish. Light and refreshing on the palate. I really enjoyed this one. DiarmaidBHK (5896) - Lewisburg, Pennsylvania, USA - JUL 18, 2013
Bottle from Greenville beer exchange. Pours dark brown with a Thin khaki Head. Has some nice holiday spices on the nose. The taste has big spice notes on the tongue and it’s also fairly hop forward. Unfortunately it doesn’t blend together well. It tastes a bit like leather. Not a pleasant experience. Cybercat (6142) - Georgia, USA - JAN 10, 2013
Malty aroma has smoky, yeasty, hoppy and subtle spicy notes. It pours a lovely clear chestnut with a fairly thick and fine-bubbled light tan head. Flavor has firm notes of cloves, woody hops and roast malt plus hints of caramel and cinnamon. Smooth texture has a decent amount of fizz, and leaves a hoppy, woody finish. raradel (343) - Atlanti Beach, Florida, USA - DEC 24, 2012
Taste like cleaning supplies, almost undrinkable... Nothing good, start over... Sorry UNCCTF (587) - Cary, North Carolina, USA - DEC 23, 2012
On tap at the brewery. Had some nice spices in it, but they didn’t overpower the hops. Definitely a warming beer that I love during the winter.
