Pours clean ruby brown with one finger of sandy tan head. Nose is malt forward with a lightly smokey character and dextrinous caramel-y quality. Malty/dextrinous flavor with notes of caramel and raisiny sweetness. Toasted grain and spicy alcohol. Nice. Medium body.
Very nice scotch ale with a nice crisp malt base and a good bit of malts that kept it very true. Not much roast. Like these guys. MadRobin (2988) - Silver Spring, Maryland, USA - SEP 14, 2013

Draught. Pours a clear amber color with a light tan head. Nose is quite malty and has some caramel notes to it with a slight bit of toasting. Taste has just a bit smoke in there in addition to the caramel and toastiness. Feels remarkably light. Drake (13738) - Milwaukee, Wisconsin, USA - FEB 22, 2012
Served on draft at the taphouse. Pours a clear copper color with a creamy tan head. Decent head retention. Aroma of earthy notes, toffee malts and a fruity finish. The taste is toffee, earthy notes, berries and something a little bit off. I suspect it might be the taplines more than the beer itself. Medium bodied, average carbonation, pretty solid other than that off-flavor, which is sad, because that was all keeping me from REALLY liking this beer. ucusty (2691) - raleigh, North Carolina, USA - FEB 6, 2011
Pour is as expected. Caramel, toffee and light peat. Flavor is much of the same hints of chocolate. Slick finish. Smokey tease I wanted more SmOkE OldGrowth (3474) - the Containment Area, North Carolina, USA - AUG 22, 2010
at Aviator Tap House.Good aroma, sweet, roasty, chocolate, nutty, little peat. Clean orange brown color, ok head, faded quick, little to no lace. Sweet bitter flavor. Medium body, oily creamy mouthfeel, sweet finish. Opened up nicely as warmed, aroma was favorite part, by a little, got some nice chocolate....
