Between the age of the horse drawn buggy and the modern three-car garage, there was a time when the streetcar was the greatest invention of the day. Every day businessmen and school children alike would grace the No. 41 streetcar to and from Avondale, making stops at Avondale Park, Lakeview, and Forest Park.

The Streetcar Kolsch is a German style ale that has flavor and aroma profiles much like a lager or a pilsner. This beer is our lightest and most sessionable brew in our line up. The Streetcar’s engine is going full steam and packed with flavor. Our Kolsch is nicely balanced with low hop bitterness and a light malt backbone. This beer has a medium body, a fizzy head and a slightly cloudy straw yellow hue. The Streetcar Kolsch is low in alcohol, bursting with flavor and extremely refreshing which makes this brew perfect for any occasi

On tap at Post Office, Birmingham, AL. Pilsner malt and hay aroma with sulfur notes. Almost clear yellow under a slowly dropping, white blanket. Sweet pilsner malt flavour up front becomes a dry, lightly bitter and sulfurous drink. Needs more conditioning, but still quite nice. Light body, medium carbonation, fairly crisp.

Taproom at brewery. Color of hay with white head. Aroma of hops, clove and honey. Tastes of honey and cloves with slightly bitter hops on the backend. It’s a decent beer.

Appearance: A light, lightly pale yellow body with a bit of haziness to it. Fine, white head.

Smell: Modest maltiness on the nose with small, soft notes of lemon and implied sweetness.

Taste: Crisp, puffed cereal maltiness with a little lick of clover honey sweetness. Lightly spicy hops, a hint of bitterness, with an underpinning of herb. Faint minerality. A gentle maltiness remains for the clean, crisp finish.

Mouthfeel: Medium-light body. Medium-plus, finely textured, active carbonation.

Overall: A nice, clean Kölsch set for springtime refreshment, though this particular weekend in Birmingham was unseasonably cool.

Aroma is yeasty and malty. Pours a clear solar yellow with a thick, fine-bubbled ivory head. Richly malty flavor has accompanying notes of yeast and fresh-baked bread. Smooth, firm texture has a good fizz. Hop on this streetcar!

decaturstevo (6343) - decatur, Tennessee, USA - JUN 26, 2013
Pale yellow with creamy white head and lace. Flat paper and wheaty aroma. Sweet flat papery flavor with a hinto citrus. Medium/light bodied but fizzy.

Braudog (6979) - Yorktown, Virginia, USA - JUN 24, 2013
Draft at Dreamland BBQ. Super, super light. No head whatsoever. Super clean drinker with virtually no flavor at all, not even a corny Cologne thing. But pleasant enough and clean. (#5069, 6/24/2013, Barley’s Day)

Nero55 (957) - Nevada, USA - FEB 21, 2013
