A downright impressive porter! I’m always skeptical of porters that have flavorings in the description, but this one nails it. The "Vanillaphant" as it has been termed, is always my go-to beer when I stop in the tap room. Additionally, it is one of the best dark beers that J Clyde offers.
Near black pour with thin tan head. Aroma is cocoa. Taste is light dark chocolate, roasted nuts and a little vanilla. Not much bitterness. Pleasant and a tad better than average. Not one of my top though. kerenmk (5357) - Tel Aviv, ISRAEL - JUL 23, 2016
On tap at Avondale, Birmingham, AL, 3.5.16. Brown. roasty, caramel and a little bit of coffee aroma. Bitter, roasty, some vanilla in the mouth. Medium-to-full body, roasty and vanilla finish. Nsanders (1190) - St Paul, Minnesota, USA - JUL 12, 2016
Can. Deep brown with light brown head. Deep roasted malt aroma with hazelnut, vanilla bean and tree bark. The flavor is a balance of light sweetness and a dry malty aftertaste. Medium body with a slick feel. tnkw01 (1854) - Knoxville, Tennessee, USA - JUN 13, 2016
Can. Dark brown, with a tan head. Aroma is malty vanilla with hints of whiskey. Taste was slightly malty sweet upfront with a vanilla whiskey finish. oldrtybastrd (5228) - Fort Walton Beach, Florida, USA - MAY 6, 2016
Pours a very dark brown with beige head. Chocolate aroma, as well as vanilla. Sweet taste with notes of caramel, vanilla, chocolate, and roasted malts.

Pretty good tasting beer. Vanilla is present, light coffee roasted flavor, fairly dark. Good dose of hops present but not an ipa. I kind of whish it was a little higher gravity, it kind of was thick on the palate, possibly due to the vanilla. I would recommend it, its quite the treat. shadey (2171) - Nashville, Tennessee, USA - APR 15, 2016
12of can. Pours black with a thin head of light tan cream and minimal carbonation. Aroma is strong roast, but not harsh. There is some bit of chocolate, but I could be confused with the vanilla. Body is a little sharper than I expected. Here the roast is more bitter and there is less sweetness than I had expected. Easy to drink and well put together. sawbuck (778) - Round Lake, Illinois, USA - APR 8, 2016
Nice complex aroma of vanilla, some coffee, and fresh brownies. Nice ebony color with a tan head. Rich sweetness up front. Sweet roasted malt, some dark chocolate, with vanilla in the background, not overpowering. Bitterness is a Smokey bitter chocolate punch that balances the sweetness nicely. Medium mouth feel, finish echo’s smoke and bitter chocolate. Nice porter. asheft (3125) - Ottawa, Ontario, CANADA - JAN 13, 2016
On tap at Dreamland, Birmingham, AL. Toasted hazelnut, coffee, and chocolate aroma transcended by sweet vanilla. Opaque black under a lacy, tan, flannel blanket. Flavour is bitter and dry up front, but becomes a chocolate fudge brownie with vanilla ice cream. Clean finish. Medium body, medium carbonation.
