Delicious lemon and vanilla scented wheat beer with yeast. This is an aristocratic beer with a champagne sparkle and a beautifully sustained head. With the pale color of mountain honey and tart refreshing palate, it is a "brut" beer with the delicious, complex fruitiness of extra-dry champagne. Bottle conditioned and top fermented, it is a benchmark for this style of beer. The nose is fruity-spicy, herbaceous with lots of flowers, and fruit. With such a creamy head, you can build miniature mountains that resemble the Alps. Pour slowly, fill the special weissbier glass half full and swirl the bottle on the table to put the yeast in suspension.

Bottle from Vinmonopolet’s BU. Unclear yellow, some foamy, white head. Esters, banana, spice, some yeast. Sweet, some bitterness. Medium body. Medium to low, but still quite fizzy, carbonation.

Bottle from the LCBO. Cloudy pale yellow gold with a large lingering white head that leaves some patchy lace. Nose is floral with some wheat, citrus, light banana, light spice and a hint of salt. Flavour follows with the banana a bit more prominent in the light sweetness and a touch of citrus tartness and very light cloves. Mouth is medium- and smooth with active carbonation. Excellent. 8/4/7+/4-/16-

Bottle poured, with much thanks to Stefan for gifting the bottle during the Seattle visit. Always a treat to try a true German hefe, after so many wheat beers that don’t come close. Cloudy pale golden yellow pour with a lasting head. Floral aroma, some lemon and other citrus. Slight champagne like note here too. Flavor is a good amount of banana to pair with wheat. Floral. Citrus, but with no bite. Smooth, cool and flavorful. This is what a hefe should be. Excellent.

Bottle courtesy of Astrid K. Il gusto al naso trova frumento e speziato.

Hazy golden color with medium-thick pillowy head. zesty lemon aroma with a bready wheat flavor/palate. Above average Hefeweizen.

Scipio (1084) - Palatine, Illinois, USA - JUL 4, 2017
Pours a cloudy yellow with a full white head. The aroma is wheat, banana, yeast, and just a little bit of the advertised vanilla. No surprise here, just your standard fare for this style. The taste has a touch of sweetness and is dry. The vanilla flavor makes itself apparent here. But then you get your usual routine of wheat, banana, and yeast. You also get some hints of lemon. Its lighter in body, a little sticky in texture, and a little more fizzy in carbonation. This is good, but really is just another similar member of the German Hefeweizen family.

BrewWhatIWant (213) - Ontario, CANADA - JUL 3, 2017
Pours cloudy gold with a thick mousse like head that never recess. Aroma is citrus and vanilla. Taste is slightly sweet with a mildly drying finish. There are notes of orange peel, banana’s foster, vanilla, subtle cloves, and underneath all of that a hint of leather. Body is medium and carbonation is moderate. A characteristic hefeweizen in all ways and another incredible beer from German wheat beer specialists, Ayinger.
