A beer that has a dominant malty taste. This beer’s origins in a monk’s recipe are reflected in its heartiness. The Pope of Beers, Conrad Seidl, describes it as: “Almost black with a very slight red tone, a sensational, festive foam and truly extraordinary fragrance that at first summons up visions of greaves lard. The first taste is of mild fullness with an accompanying coffee tone, which becomes more dominant with the aftertaste. There is very little of the sweetness that is frequently to be tasted with doppelbock beer.” The Ayinger Celebrator has been ranked among the best beers of the world by the Chicago Testing Institute several times and has won numerous medals. 18.5°

From tap at Bøker & Børst with BHK 19.02.18. Dark mahogany to ebony. Dense and persistent pale brown head and lacing. Aroma of dried berries, roasted nuts, dark chocolate and caramel. Excellently complex taste of dark malt, dried berries, roated nuts and bark. Medium dry mouthfeel. Good drinkability. Some bitterness is lingering on.

UPDATED: FEB 13, 2018 Bottle, many thanks to SinH4! Dark red, almost black liquide, egshell coloured, fast fading foam. Aroma has lots of coffee, taste is balanced roasted malts and subtle hops, hints of caramel and chocolate. Very enjoyable!

UPDATED: FEB 12, 2018 Botella 33cl. Pena no haber tenido otra...

Keg @ Victorian Craft Beer Cafe, Halifax. Glowing dark reddish-brown with mildly sticky-sweet dark malts. Its bock styling comes into the fore in its aftertaste.

UPDATED: FEB 11, 2018 As Ayinger Winter Bock :: Bottle from SinH4 during Euro Secret Santa 2017 :: Many thanks >> Bière brune presque sans nez:quelques senteurs cacaotés, une amertume aigrelette et du caramel.

Aroma: Cereal and nuts, woody touch. Appearance: Black color with clear liquid and rocky tan/beige head. Taste: Medium bitterness with light sweet notes. Palate: Medium body with oily texture and soft carbonation. Sweet caramel and nuts finish. Overall: Strong sweet features but not alcohol feeling. Easy to drink. It goes with game or strong flavour meats and fishes.
