Bottle. Lovely drinkable and well balanced lager. Nice clean and bready malts. The hops are flowery and the finish has got a moderate thirstquenching bitterness.

Kaum bitter, muffiges Malz. Entäuschend. 11/7/8/6//6

I can only describe this beer as "Interesting" in every way, smell, taste, but aren’t all European beers funky?

Ernest (7658) - Boulder, Colorado, USA - NOV 25, 2011
Draught in Munich (gravity cask). Head is mostly lasting. Body is medium yellow? (served in a ceramic mug). Aroma is lightly to moderately malty (toasted grain), moderately hoppy (flowers, herbs). Flavor is moderately sweet, lightly acidic, lightly bitter. Finish is lightly sweet, lightly acidic, lightly to moderately bitter. Medium body, velvety texture, soft carbonation. Straightforward but pleasant and clean.

Grima (2394) - Merzkirchen, RLP, GERMANY - NOV 3, 2011
The beer in the glass is deep golden yellow with a fine head. Smells grainy-hoppy. It starts very flowery-hoppy, with a lot of grain and a pleasant bitterness. The middle part shows very grainy, with a grassy hops, and a slightly sweet flavor. Goes into a grassy, hoppy and grainy-sweet finish!

500ml Bottle. Appearance is clear, golden yellow color with light, fizzy, off-white head. Aroma is sweet, malty, and somewhat citrusy. Taste is pretty sweet, hints of cookies, cereal, and citrus hops. Very light bitterness. Palate is light- to medium-bodied, slick texture, fizzy carbonation, and a long, sweet finish.

Martinus (4601) - Baarle-Nassau, NETHERLANDS - SEP 28, 2011
Clear golden colour, fluffy white head. Malty and hoppy aroma, touch of caramel. Flavour malty, hoppy touch, slight sweetness. Malty and pleasurable bitter finish.
(Draught @ Ayinger Speis und Trank, München)

Bottle brought home from Germany:
Skunky metallic aroma along with a lot a grain. There is also some subtle grassy hops & some malts but grain seems to feature the most.
Light golden colour with lots of bubbles & a huge foamy white head with outstanding retention & some lacing on the glass.
Matches the smell quite closely with lots of grain featuring in the taste as well. There is some grassy hops & the addition of a sweet sort of lemony taste to it that isn’t in the smell.
Light to medium & the beer has an overall fluffy feel to it that is different to most beers out there. Not so much great but certainly different & enjoyable enough. There is also plenty of carbonation without being overly gassy.

I’m rather disappointed in this one really, I think I managed to build it up to much in my head before trying it & ultimately I was going to be disappointed. Not a bad beer, just bad by German standards.
