Ayinger Oktober Fest Märzen has a deep golden color tinted with amber. It is lightly sweet with a malty nose balanced with floral hops. Its medium to big body and alcohol is not overpowering. The soft dryness comes from long maturation.

Great beer. One of the best Octoberfests I’ve had. Discovered a few years ago and have found there are very few that can match the taste of the, caramely delicious flavor and after taste.

Great taste - especially when pouring it straight from the tap at the brewery. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Øl fra øverste hylde. Virkelig god øl af denne type. Dejlig frisk. Tilpas bitter

Aroma is caramel and toast. Taste is both fruity and a tad sour, but at the same time sweet, with caramel and toast bread.

From Oct 2006 Poured from 500ml bottle(label says it is 5.6%abv) a clear amber gold with a medium sized head of foam that shrank to a fine layer quickly. The smell has some sweet malt and nutty notes but it's pretty delicate. The taste has a nice caramel malty flavour with some of the nuttiness I noted in the nose followed by well, more of the same. ;^) I do sense a bit of hop bitterness near the finish but the finish itself is quite malty. This is a pretty good Oktoberfest but there are others that I prefer.

Keg at Brauhaus Schmitz. Pours orange gold with a thin white head. Aroma is grain, malt and a little orange. Taste is malty and has a little sweetness with some caramel and orange in there. Decent enough.

On tap at DomCraft. Deep golden with white head. Aroma and taste are malty, bread, light toast, faint caramels, some residual sugars, earthy and herby hops and light grass. Good!

Flora, piney, citrus aroma. Clear orange brown color, thin white head. Bubbly mouthfeel with chewy bread and malt texture. Toffee, pear, dried fruit, honey, and pumpkin flavors with a spicy, thyme?, finish. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

330 ml bottle into dimpled mug; no bottle dating, but is a recent seasonal release. Pours crystal clear deep golden amber/light orange color with a 1-2 finger dense off white head with fantastic retention, that reduces to a nice cap that lasts. Nice spotty soapy lacing clings down the glass, with a moderate amount of streaming carbonation retaining the cap. Fantastic appearance. Aromas of big cracker, bread dough, toasted biscuit, nuttiness, light honey, pepper, and herbal/grassy earthiness. Damn nice aromas with great balance and complexity of bready malt and light-moderate earthy hop notes; with great strength. Taste of big cracker, bread dough, toasted biscuit, nuttiness, light honey, pepper, and herbal/grassy earthiness. Light-moderate herbal, grassy, spicy bitterness on the finish. Lingering notes of cracker, bread dough, toasted biscuit, nuttiness, honey, pepper, and herbal/grassy earthiness on the finish for a good bit. Incredible complexity, robustness, and balance of bready malt and light-moderate earthy hop flavors; with an awesome malt/bitterness balance, and zero cloying/astringent flavors after the finish. Perfectly clean on lager flavors, with zero yeast notes present. Light-moderate increasing dryness from bitterness. Medium carbonation and medium-plus body; with a very smooth, creamy/bready/grainy, fairly crisp, and lightly sticky balanced mouthfeel that is awesome. Zero warming alcohol as expected of 5.8%. Overall this is a fantastic Oktoberfest! All around outstanding complexity, robustness, and balance of bready malt and light-moderate earthy hop flavors; very smooth, crisp, clean, and refreshing to drink with the modestly bitter/drying finish. Amazingly rich and complex Munich malt flavors, with balancing noble hops. A highly enjoyable offering, and pristine style example.

These aren’t usually my kind of beer. This had nice appearance and nice light aroma and small foam head. Taste was crisp with good body and full taste. Good staying power. Enjoyed this more than expected. Let’s good to Germany and try it if this is a commonly available beer taste! ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone
