Our Ayinger Ur-Weisse is an old-fashioned wheat with some fine roasted malt to give it more color and flavor than golden hefe- weisse. It has an immense crown of lovely foam held proudly above a robe of translucent amber. On the palate, malt and yeast predominate, with a delicious balance of fruit and bread-like yeast. The taste is complex, with suggestions of soft fruit, apple, and, in the finish, perhaps, even cloves.

Keg. Aroma caramel, bread, banana, bubblegum, dough, it’s a bonanza of funkiness. Pours hazy amber orange with white lacing. Taste is medium sweet with a bready back note as a counter. Certainly an interesting beer and utterly un-English too. One almost hear the oompah.

Keg @ Akkurat, Stockholm. Murky amber, lasting white head, good lacing. Huge banana aroma, wheat bread and cloves in the background. Full-bodied, medium carbonated, very smooth mouthfeel. Rich wheat taste, sweet fruity with banana upfront, peach, peppery yeast, cloves, soap and rustic white wheat bread. This is a full meal! Crisp and fruity finish. Superb brew!
