Noche de los Muertos (Night of the Dead)
An intense Imperial Stout with a hint of cinnamon spice. Big, rich and black as night. Dark roasted malts add complex character to the flavors, with a balanced bitterness and mouth feel.

Deep dark brown coloured body with a lighter brown colour on the edge when held up to a light, with a very fast-dying deep brown head. Aroma of deep spice, roasted malt, alcohol, toffee and the canella is strong. Medium-bodied; Assertive earthy malt flavour with a good robust nuttiness, some chocolate and light coffee notes soon afterwards, all ending with a good sweetness and a hit of the cinnamon. Aftertaste shows a good balance of sweetness and roasty flavours with a lot of spice and even more chocolate and coffee notes on the end. Overall, a fairly nice complex imperial stout with more spices than most and a deep flavour that persists well. I sampled this 65 cL bottle purchased from Super Jr. Market in San Diego, California on 07-June-2013 for US$7.49 sampled at home in Washington on 23-June-2013.

Serving: 22 oz. bottle from State Line Liquors. It pours a black with a small, frothy tan head. The nose is an interesting mix of cinnamon, roasted malt, and a little cocoa powder. The flavor has a little cinnamon, chili powder, cocoa powder, coffee, earth, and roasted malt. Medium to full body with lower carbonation. Usually I’m not a big fan of spiced/peppered stouts but this one is decent.

Dirty black pour, the aroma is coffee, little chocolate, coca, the toasted beans, exactly what a stout should give you. That dirty black appearance is classic hardcore stout, 10% ABV is what you want! Not sure about the IBU but that is one bitter after taste! Wish it had more sweetness to it, I had no really sweetness, even when warmed up, which is a shame. Can’t compete with Speedway, but a good little stout if you like bitterness.

Very light aroma of cinnamon and sugar. Pure black with thin foam. Very off-sweet flavors of roasted dark fruits, deep pines, burnt molasses, candied caramel and toasted brown sugar. Some very subtle spices of ginger, pumpkin spice and cinnamon are sneaking about the palate. Overall, well masked alcohol with a tart, candied apple finish. Nice, complex flavors. Very unique imperial stout with some dark fruits.

Bottle shared by b3shine. Poured black color with a moderate frothy tan head that mostly lasted with good lacing. Medium to heavy toasted sweet chocolate malt, spice with a small alcohol aroma. Medium to full body with a creamy texture and flat carbonation. Medium to heavy spice sweet flavor with a medium to heavy sweet finish of moderate to long duration. This is a solid beer.

22 oz. bottle shared by b3shine- thanks again, Beau! Pours a deep, opaque brown color with a small tan head. Nice aroma: cinnamon, chocolate, coffee, roast, and earth. Like Abraxas, but not quite the same pop. Flavor of chocolate, roasted malts, cinnamon, burnt sugar, earth, and dark fruits. Medium-bodied, with medium carbonation and a dry, roasty, spicy mouthfeel. Nice sipper.
